Philosophy determines how much you want your team to play close to one another, where on the pitch will they play, and how much creativity will they be allowed. More rigid styles mean they will have low creativity, and stick to their assigned roles and duties and place on pitch, but play close to one another, making your defense better, More fluid styles will give more freedom to your players, making your attacks better by defence joining attack, and attackers helping defence. Your players will also play close to one another. Balanced means your players will have medium creativity, joining attack or defence depending on their role and duty, and play more further apart.

Strategy determins your players position on the pitch and their agressivness and passing. For more defensive strategies, players will stay behind ball, be less agressive, and positioned lower on the pitch with back line shooting long range passes and attackers making short. More attacking strategies are the opposite.

go route one will make sure you play on the counter and get the ball to attacking third asap

more direct passing means your players passing range will be higher, and they may pass the ball to some other player, not necesarilly to the one closest to them

retain possession means your players will play low risk passes

shorter passing means your passing range will be short

pass into space means all of your players will try more risky passes, into space, potentially creating a goal scoring opportunity

work ball into box means all of your players will be discouraged from shooting from distance

play out of defence means your back line will be discouraged from releasing the ball long, and instead look for short pass

pump ball into box means all of your players will look to make long range passes to target man

clear ball to flanks means your back line will look to play things wide, instead through central areas

hit early crosses will instruct your players to take full advantage of your superior height and play the ball in the air

Float crosses means your players will look for more difficult crosess, to far post

drill crosses means your players will look for the easy cross, to near post, preferable if your crossing abiltiy is low

run at defence will make your players try to dribble and run toward opponent back line

shoot on sight will instruct your players to try shooting from distance

Exploit the flanks means your players will look to pass the ball to your wingers

look for overlap means your winger will hold up the ball for your fullbacks instead of penetrating the opposition themselves

play wider will instruct your players to stretch the pitch in an attempt to find space and score

play narrower will make your defence tighten up

defensive line instructs your players to play closer or further away from goal...it determines where you want to win the ball

stick to positions will make your players available to receive the pass

roam from positions means your players will leave their position in an attempt to be more effective

allow wide players to swap makes your wingers harder to guard, but it shouldnt be used unless both wingers are strong on both feet

hassle opponents means your whole team will press in an attempt to stop opponents from having their game

stand off means your players will reduce space available for opponents passes by sticking to their position

get stuck in instructs your players to make agressive tackles and brake legs

stay on feet instructs your players not to dive

use tighter marking makes your whole team more defensively orientated, but less happy to contribute to attack

offside trap means your players will try to catch opponents in the offside

take a breather will slow down your game and allow your players to catch their breath

tempo determines how many touches of the ball players will make. Higher tempo meaning less touches.

Be more expressive will instruct your players to use their brains

Be more disciplined will make your players play as a team.

With that being written, one can easily decide how to play. For example if you want to play through defence you would need to use work ball into box, play wider, play out of defence if using a more defensive strategy and so on. Counter style can be used with any strategy by going route one.

I think 'stay on feet' is more to do with not making sliding tackles than not diving when being tackled.
