Hello everyone, could the more experienced of you help me please? I've been playing with a team from the egyptian premier for 9 months in-game now and in the first half of the season my team was being very disciplined with the very same tactics I'm using now (all 3 of them are 4-1-2-2-1; be disciplined; rigid), but after the transfer window - and I'll admit, I made lots of changes in the squad to improve overall quality - my team simply won't respect my tactics. They're playing better, yes, but only based on individual talent! This is upsetting me so much, they're playing like it is a kick-around and if it keeps going on like this we'll stand no chance against the leading teams in the premier. Any ideas of what I could do? I thought about changing the mentality to very rigid, but I don't want my attack to be completely rigid, as some individual ideas work quite well.

Some info:
-They're ******** up the midfield work. The base of my playstyle. (All 3 of my tactics variations are Exploit the middle - Play narrower - Be disciplined)
-My tactics bar is on the middle. Things I've been trying: training team cohesion and training teamwork as pre-match training.
-My fullbacks aren't pressing the wingers anymore. And even though I ask my attack to infiltrate the box, they keep attempting some crazy shots. To sum it up; a real mess.

Rigid tacktics need more time to be traned. Longer you train them, better results. If you change a lot players, you need time for everything to fit in as supposed to.

This is also normal, since you have to teach every player to play as you want them to, as in normal life.

Vice versa, if you play more fluid game, it means that you are giving your player more movement freedom, thus, they will act more in coordinace with them self, so your shape will suffer.

Basicly, rigid formation will give you better shape and more organized team, and fluid will give you more ofensive options, but your shape migth not be as good. This is especially problematic when you play lesser side against biger side.

Thanks for your answer. Indeed, it is one year later in-game now and the team is playing much better and MUCH more harmonically. I just wasn't expecting this kind of complexity from a videogame. I'm getting better at it now, by treating FM more like real football. One note for future starting players: use the numbers given ingame as a reference, don't rely on them. They don't reflect - at all - how the player will perform when playing for your team.

Might also help to train team cohesion in general training (not match training). Now, your tactical familiarity may have declined. Check that by going to the tactics screen and hovering over the bar under the tactical name. Then if it is not 100%, use tactics only for match training.
