The aim with this first team thread is basically so that users can both give and ask for for hints as how to coach Chelsea and most important, their squad in 11.3. Before posting, please have a look through the thread as the question might already have been raised and the solution or at least a suggestion might lie under your very nose.

As we all know, the game is not only about tactics, setting up a strategy that suits the clubs stature and matching the players abilities, but also about man handling. If you have a question or a tip on how to handle a certain player, this is just as important. This is often a part that is forgotten

What about signings them, is this not something that we should discuss to ?. Well yes, any recommendations about players are most welcome. Perhaps the reason that user struggle with Chelsea is that they lack a certain player type but in the end , this thread will still be a support thread to those playing with the 11.3 squad so hints and tips as how to play Chelsea in 2013/14 after having signed 8 new players might not be of any use to anyone

To make this thread as in depth as possible, please try to follow these simple guidelines and hints

  • When asking a question, the answer will only be as in depth as your question
- The more information you provide, the better the chance you will get a good answer with lots of reasoning

  • When posting your strategy, please put in the effort to explain your reasoning behind it
- Why are you setting up Drogba as a Defensive FC on support instead of a Poacher. Why are you using Lampard as a more limited Box2box, giving him the first notch of little in creative freedom. Why are you using a very wide but short pitch. Just stating that it seems to work for me is rarely of any use to any user

  • When using Screenshots, make sure that the language is in English
- Even if you like me are from Sweden, please make sure that when uploading screenshots, the language is in English. I have seen screens using polish and Russian and I did not get any of it, ont knowing if it was a creen for the attacker or the winger :D

When posting your strategy, please put in the effort to explain your reasoning behind it

Let the discussion begin

Oh, and please dont forget to have a look in the stickie on how to make suggestions about threads for more teams as I will always be the one who opens them :D

Do you think i should sell Kalou and sign Hulk and play a 4-3-3 with Hulk - Torres - Anelka up top ?

EDIT: And rotate Drogba and Torres ?

Sell Kalou and sign Hulk. Why don't you play Hulk - Drogba - Torres up top, but all as Centre Forwards?

That would be a very nice and neat idea, but quite frankly it is so difficult to buy Hulk it is nearly impossible have a look at a younger option maybe i.e. Lukaku, Neymar and Paloschi.

As the 433 still has an advantage on the ME, the answer is yes :D . But on a serious note, Selling Kalou is not the only change you would make is it or did you play a 433 or 433( with AML instead) before). My suggestion would always be to not only look at the quality of the player, but also the type of players being used. One cant have 3 players coming deep to get the ball just as one cant have 3 players up front beating the offside trap. Its always a matter of balance that have to fit into the system you are using

Torres works really well as a Target Man - Attack.
Target Man supply - to feet. Got 21 in 24 for me.

I still used the 4-5-1 rotating him and Drogba.
2nd season Drogba's attributes start to drop so I used him more as backup and Torres as my main striker.

Just starting my new save now, Looking to play 4-3-3 and i may do a clear out with Malouda, Kalou, Bosingwa, Ferreira and Hilario all going

I am currently managing Chelsea.

Although I have a great Home tactic, I need a bit of help turning this into an away tactic. I would get hammered by the bigger teams at their ground if I play this away.

I know im not 'supposed' to make any drastic changes to the formation or the players wont adapt so I need a bit of help with the tweaks I will need to make but sticking with the same.similar formation

My home tactic is an attacking, direct style 4-1-2-2-1 (or 4-3-3). I've listed the players in formation and their roles.

Cech = GK (Goalkeeper-support)

Ivanovic = DR (FB-Auto)
Alex = DC (DC-Defend)
Terry = DC (DC-Defend)
Cole = DL (FB-Auto)

Mikel = DMC (Anchor-Defend)

Essien = MC (Ball winner-Support)
Lampard = MC (Advanced PM-Attack)

Malouda = AMR (Inside FW - Attack)
Anelka = AML (Inside FW - Attack)

Torres = CF (Advanced FW - Attack)

Usual Subs
Turnbull
Bosingwa
Zhirkov
Luiz
Ramires
Kalou
Drogba

Team Instructions
Philosophy - Fluid
Mentality - Attacking
Passing style- More Direct
Creativty - Default
Pressing - Press More
Tackling - Aggressive
Roaming - Default
Crossing - Drill crosses
Roaming - Default

Defensive Line - High (first notch on high)
Tempo - Quick (first notch on quick)
Time wasting - Rarely (3 notches up)

I would also use the shouts to retain possession or get ball forward after a few minutes ( liked 2-3 minutes ?) as a reaction to what you see on the pitch/ match stats

I might want to try this.
