If you need any advise on any Civ in AoE III, pm me. I use to play a lot on ESO and hamachi games.
What Civ are you really talking about? Have you got all the latest patches? Do you have the Warchiefs and Asian Dynasties Edition too? Have you downloaded the Napoleonic Era Mod (the best imo)? Are you talking about NR or R games?
If you are just starting, I suggest use the French or the British, they are the easiest ones to learn with.

Basically if you play rush games, the idea is to get to Colonial as fast as possible (under 4 min mark) , get villies production going, and let the explorer get some treasures. Scout is vital in rush games, as you can see what troops the enemy makes, and therefore you build the effective counter measure. If he gets skirmishers, you get cav, if he gets cav, you get HI, or LC, and so on. Make sure your cards are rights. In rush games, resources and troops are the most efficient, whereas the economic ones are being used more in NR games.
Another strategy would be a boom/turtle, and for that , the Ports and Dutch are quite good.
Now, the fastest rush ever I believe its the Ottomans, with the Abus/Janissary strat, set at 6 min...

I doubt many members on this forum have expertise on AoE.
I also cannot help you as I like to start slow, concentrating on infrastructure rather than building up defences to begin with.
Looks like more of a No Rush player to me. If you play treaty games, lets say the basic 30 or 40 min, I highly suggest using the French or the Brits. If you have all the add ons, Aztecs and China, their economy is massive in long games. You can get a 2000+ score easily at 40m. Now if you have the Napoleonic era mod, for Rush games, Poles, Americans, Swiss, if you play treaty, Swedish, Italians, Swiss, Prussia
