Wenger Resigns - Malin Hired

View attachment 357292
Wenger has stepped down after 18 years in charge,

After 18 years Arsenal have a new man at the helm - and it's not as you'd expect. Former academy coach Josh Malin has taken the reigns of the London giants after Wenger's shock resignation.

Wenger has offered his thanks to both Arsenal football club and the fans. Although the resignation was unexpected and sudden it is thought that he had spoke with the Arsenal board before doing so and offered his recommendations as to who takes the hotseat next. Josh Malin's name was thrown forward and Ivan Gazidis has wasted no time in appointing the new man.

In his last interview as Arsenal boss, Wenger had this to say: "I've been here 18 years, and they've been the best 18 years of my life. I feel now is a good time to leave the club - with Alexis joining and the basis for a very solid squad being assembled. I'm confident the new man will do a fantastic job - he's young, hungry and he's got all the attributes to make a world class manager. I'd like to thank everyone at Arsenal and most importantly the fans for their support. I leave with a heavy heart but it's the right time."

The new manager is thought to have joined up with the squad already, taking yesterdays session in which he spoke with the team and outlined his plans for the future.

More to come as we recieve it at www.skysports.com/Football/Wenger-Resigns

good to see someone doing a story with my favorite team from England.

Looking forward to this! Make sure we win everything, every season!!

Successful Pre-Season For The Gunners

View attachment 357089
Will Arsenal prove to be a dominant BPL force?

After a summer of change at Arsenal, the first pre-season has gone reasonably well some might say. With the new manager in place, Arsenal began their pre-season campaign with a behind closed doors friendly against their U21's side in which they ran out comprehensive winners. This was the first chance we got to see the new manager in action in his first ever game in management, and it didn't seem to phase him one bit. Dressed in casual attire, with an Arsenal training top and shorts - Malin commanded his technical area throughout. The squad looked good - new signings Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy made their first Arsenal appearances and both looked sharp.

Days later, the squad jetted off to Australia for a pre-season tour. A good chance to bond with the squad for the new boss. With games vs. AIS, South Melborne, Sutherland Sharks and FNSW Institute it gave the manager a chance to look at some of the fringe players as well as any emerging youth talents - with the average age over the 4 games being just 20, it showed the manager's eye for youth. With no goals conceded and 16 scored the manager seems to have got it spot on thus far.

After returning from the tour and giving the squad time off to recouporate, Arsenal hosted Club Brugge in what was surely going to be the first real test for the new Arsenal boss - one which would be played at The Emirates and infront of the Arsenal fans. A mixture of youth and experience saw off the Belgian giants as the Gunners ran out 3-0 winners in which they hardly needed to break sweat. A bumper crowd of 58,763 witnessed the new regime in full flow.

Malin then sent a full contingent of youth alongside trialists Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto'o, aswell as senior staff members Rene Meulensteen, Pat Rice and Steve Bould as they flew to Greece to play a low key friendly against 2nd division side Episkopi FC. The Gunners ran out 3-0 winners in which Samuel Eto'o got his first goal of his trial period which is sure to impress the manager and his coaching staff. Drogba made a brief appearance off the bench but failed to make the same impact as the Cameroon talisman.

As pre-season came to a close there was just time for the famous Emirates Cup, in which this years participants were Turkish giants Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and French club Racing de Lens. Arsenal were matched up against old foes Galatasaray in the semi final fixture where the Arsenal fans came to see how the new look squad and management team faired against a solid European outfit. The first game saw Arsenal breeze past Galatasaray in what was a comfortable 2-0 victory for the Londoners. Fellow Turks Fenerbahce saw off the challenge of RC Lens and will face Arsenal in the Emirates Cup Final. After a testing pre-season Arsenal wrapped it up with a convincing 4-0 victory over Fenerbahce which left Malin speechless in his post game interview.

Here are the pre-season results in full:

Arsenal 5-0 Arsenal U21
Arsenal 3-0 AIS
Arsenal 5-0 South Melbourne
Arsenal 5-0 Sutherland Sharks
Arsenal 3-0 FNSW Institute
Arsenal 3-0 Club Brugge
Arsenal 3-0 Episkopi
Arsenal 2-0 Galatasaray
Arsenal 4-0 Fenerbahce.

With 33 goals scored and 0 conceded it is hard to count Arsenal out at this early stage.

Very well presented, looking good. Even though its COYS from me !

Arsenal battled from a goal down for victory

Arsenal showed why they cannot be taken lightly this term as they battled back from a goal down to lift the Community Shield on Sunday. Both manager's fielded strong sides as they looked to get the upper hand over one and other prior to the seasons beginning. After a shaky start, Arsenal fell one goal behind through old boy Samir Nasri as he pounced upon Szczesny's parry and slotted into an empty net. Arsenal upped the tempo, Alexis moved into a more central position and they suddenly looked more threatening. On the stroke of half time, Mesut Ozil provided the pass of the game as he sprung the offside trap and released Alexis before he calmly rounded ***** Caballero and finished well past the retreating Vincent Kompany. Arsenal went into the break the better team and the second half continued in the same fashion, with the Gunners hammering on the door but was struggling to break it down. Cazorla was forced off with a shin problem so on came fan favourite Jack Wilshere on around the hour mark. Arsenal continued their relentless pressure right up to the last minute of the game, when Podolski centered from the left hand side and Mesut Ozil's swing deflected off the unfortunate Micah Richards and flew past City debutant Caballero making it 2-1 to Arsenal in the dying embers of the game. Seconds after the restart the final whistle was blown meaning Malin's Arsenal career had got off to the perfect start as they lifted the silverware.

looking forward to seeing more of this looks really good, amazing job with the Gunners so far keep it up

Solid Start For The Gunners

View attachment 356439
Arsenal Picked Up Maximum Premier League Points

17/8/2013 - The Libery Stadium

Swansea 0-4 Arsenal

A successful start was key for the new manager and that is exactly what he has done. After picking up their first piece of silverware against Man City, Arsenal kicked off their Premier League campaign away at Swansea - without their talisman Alexis Sanchez who was recently ruled out for the opening 2 months of the season. It was all smiles in Wales for the Gooners who ran out convincing 4-0 winners in a fairly comfortable day. Goals from Olivier Giroud, Per Mertesacker and Abou Diaby brought home the 3 points.

20/8/2013 - Emirates Stadium

Arsenal 3-1 Athletic Bilbao

Arsenal kicked off their Champions League campaign with a best placed play off match against Spanish outfit Athletic Bilbao. The Gunners started brightly opening the scoring after 7 minutes through Frenchman Olivier Giroud. Santi Cazorla then doubled their lead on 19 minutes with a peach of a free kick which saw the Gunners cruising at this point. They looked to have got the game wrapped up on 33 minutes as that man Giroud struck again and sent Arsenal 3-0 up going into the break. Bilbao's number 9 then pulled one back just after the break but it was to be Arsenal who take a 3-1 lead going back to Spain.

24/8/2013 - Emirates Stadium

Arsenal 4-1 Burnley

Arsenal carried on their free goalscoring form with a convincing 4-1 victory against Premier League new boys Burnley. 57,603 fans attended to see goals from Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and centre half Per Mertesacker, with promising young full back Kieran Trippier gaining a consolation for the Lancashire outfit.

28/8/2013 - San Mames

Athetic Bilbao 1-0 Arsenal

Arsenal succumbed to their first defeat under the new boss as they lost 1-0 in the second leg of the Champions League best placed play off. The defeat was numbed slightly as they ran out 3-2 winners on aggregate which sees them breeze into the Champions League group stages - where they are paired with Juventus, Galatasaray and Lille - a difficult group which could provide a stumbling block for the Gunners. The game was played very much like a pre-season friendly with little urgency from both sides. Arsenal made no less than 9 changes from the first leg and lined up like this;

Wojciech Szczesny
Natxo Monreal
Thomas Vermaelen
Ignasi Miquel
Carl Jenkinson
Mathieu Flamini
Jack Wilshere
Lukas Podolski
Serge Gnabry
Tomas Rosicky
Olivier Giroud

Although it was a loss on the night, the Arsenal manager is sure to be pleased with his sides progression and will now look to tackle a very tough group on paper.

31/8/2013 - Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace 0-4 Arsenal

Arsenal got back to winning ways as they thrashed an impotent Palace side who lacked any real desire throughout. With 7 changes from midweek, Arsenal looked back to their old selfs, playing at a high tempo with some nice one touch football that left Palace bewildered and looking unable to cope. They opened the scoring on 11 minutes as German maestro Mesut Ozil opened his account with a lovely **** over Julian Speroni. Olivier Giroud carried on his good form as he doubled the lead on 14 minutes before adding his 2nd and Arsenals 3rd on 56 minutes. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain rounded off a good day for the Gunners as he fired home from 19 yards to complete the rout.

Can you post the tactic you use.. Mine is incredibly inconsistent, i either win 5-0 or don't create any chances
