So after this summer's hilarity I've decided to try to do things the Wenger style in FM. The elements of the challenge are as follows:

- If any club submits a bid for at least twice the value of any of your players you must accept the bid.
- You can't pay any fee for a player - only free transfers and non-fee based loans.
- You can't employ any physio with a physiotherapy rating greater than 10.
- You can't have the same captain for more than two consecutive seasons.
- You can't respond to transfer inquiries with a hands off warning, only with "sell for right price" or "listen to any offers."

That's what I have so far. I was toying with the idea of allowing a couple of paid transfers a year, but with the max bid being the player's current market value.

Thoughts? Critiques? Suggestions for other criteria? I'd like to get started up on this after the CL draw. Oh also I wasn't going to play with Arsenal necessarily.

More ideas - Minimum of 5 first team players who are injury prone at all times.
- anyone valued at 15m or higher at the end of the season must be transfer listed
- can pay transfer fee for international youth players under the age of 18 but no higher than their value at the time of the transfer

not win anything for 10years and some how keep your job

Must forget how to work a coat zip.

On Topic: A good idea. I might start up a full game as a break from my long term FMC one and try this though won't be sticking to all the rules. Maybe limit myself to free signings, foreign youngster and sell most players after a certain age (maybe 25)

Better rules would be
1) Only allowed to buy if you sell and even then less. So transfer spending less than receiving.
2) Sell players when they reach certain status ( Worldclass )
3) Sell aging players (28- ) who are running to end of their contracts ( 1-year left )
4) Sell players who demand too big wages compared to rest of the squad ( Keep socialist wagestructure )

Gotta work in the french kids somehow though...

My problem with the aging players thing is players like rosicky, arshavin, toure, etc who stick around for a while.

I like the achieving high status thing, wonder if there's a way to standardize that... maybe if they win some sort of major award like World Cup XI, PFA Team of the Year, etc.

I can't help but wonder if this is actually a "challenge" or a "I hate Wenger" thread. ;)

Although, an Arsene Wenger challenge would be a good one, I'm not entirely sure the rules you have set out are fair.

More of an Arsene Wenger 2013 summer window challenge, to be fair.

And I am actually attempting this challenge with Everton because I thought it would be funny to see how fast Fellaini, Baines, etc are snagged away. Already signed Mido as a back up striker on a free and Thorben Marx from Gladbach on a free loan for when Fellaini certainly goes.
