Woke up Monday morning and decided it was a good day to stop smoking.

I went and got myself some nicotine gum (tastes like ****) and chowed down Monday and Tuesday when I had cravings. It seems like the first 48 hours are the worst because I haven't needed to chew a single piece of gum today (day 3) and I feel a sense of achievement already.

Nothing important, just wanted to share and see if anyone else has quit or has tried/is trying?

dont smoke, do sometimes if im uber wasted and think im cool (someone else offers) but i've tried to give up fizzy drinks and got the shakes after 2 days and gave up.

keep going though,cancer is bad

lol same i dnt smoke but ive known ppl who tried 2 kick the habbit

the hardest thing i think 2 give up will be fm, ive gt exams n am 2 busy concentratin on fm lol

No plans to give up smoking yet. Watch some Bill Hicks instead :D

Gl with that Wes...my housemates claim they are always gona cut down and never do! My Dad gave up bout 10-12 years ago and now hates the things.

I was trying to swear less, then watched In the Loop and thought bollocks to that :D

Lol yeh i had that with fizzy drinks, you get a taste for some, but once youre weaned off its fine, ive been drinking water now for a year instead of juice.

Takeaways were the same, at uni used to have 2-3 a week so when i came home from first year i used to crave them :P

i dont think i would manage greg...i get cravings for it lol

managed twice to stop smoking (cigarettes) like 7 days once and nine days the other, all that to find the first cigarette tasted like a fountain of joy so....
On the other side other smokign substances I just stopped naturally but because I needed to feel my senses so I went for er... ''increasing senses subsatnces'' which I gave up soon as well. Sometimes it's good to be a pennyless student.
Stopped drinking as well lol like that, out of the blue. But honestly cigarettes (ten years at least two packs) I'll need full medical help.

Chellaston mate.

As for quiting, it seems easier each day. I went jogging last night and already noticed a massive improvement in my breathing.

I tried to cut down first as well ajw but it didn't work, the amount I smoked would just creep back up again so I decided it was time to hit the nail on the head.

I was talking to a mate to convince him to give up smoking also and he gave me the excuse of "I've never quit anything in my life and I'm not about to start now." I did find it funny.

Gave up alcohol for a while, cant remember how long!
Did well I thought- seeing as I'm in my 1st year at Uni!
Friends were unsuprisingly rather unsupportive! lol
Ended on my birthday night-out, between three of us we necked a litre bottle of Jaegermeister i got in the airport! :D

I smoked for a year when I was in college and it was my routine to have a cigarette every morning on the way there. I still smoke when I go out drinking, but instead of smoking he 6 a day I was probably doing, I'm smoking like 10 when I go out on the weekend. I didn't use nicotine gum to stop smoking, I can't remember why I actually "quit". I think I just felt like it for fitness reasons. I found it harder when I hit like a week of not smoking. The first 2 days were pretty easy, started craving around the 3rd day until about 2 weeks further. Still been smoking the reefer sometimes during the day though, but that only happens when I'm at uni.

Ive never smoked. but I do lent every year. Although I'm not religious I dont do the whole thing just the giving something up for 40 days.

5 weeks free yesterday and totally proud of myself. :D

ive quit smoking once, had some insane fever/flu thing and was bed ridden for days and didn't smoke the whole time it was that bad anyways when i was over the flu bout 5 days after i jus continued not smoking.

3 months later i missed smoking joints so much as i was just having pipes etc... i ended up smokin j's then tabs again.

everyone needs to quit it but tbh i enjoy it. terrified of cancer and that tho
