MD: It’s fair to say your appointment came out of the blue, how did this all materialise?
NB: I’ve had a longstanding relationship with Mr. Ashley. He know’s my passion for this club and ultimately where i believe it can reach and what it can achieve. For the logistics of this, you’d have to speak to Mr. Ashley and Lee about this - all i can say is i am thrilled with this opportunity and can’t wait to get started.

MD: Your appointment appears to of caused quite a stir amongst the fans, what do you say to those who have voiced concerns about your lack of experience?
NB: Well the fans are entitled to their opinion. What i can say though is i have spent my whole life in the game operating behind the scenes. The club has set down a marker as to how it wants to operate going forward and i am confident in my abilities to meet the requirements asked of me.

MD: In light of this new structure, how happy are you to work within this year triangle alongside Lee Charnley and Graham Carr?
NB: Well firstly, i think it’s important to understand that some of the lines communicated in the press about my roles and responsibilities is a little blurred from the truth. A lot of people question whether a club can run effectively in this way - this is the way most clubs are actually run on the continent and i’m confident we are all pulling in the right direction.

MD: How do you plan to bring success to a club in which so many have failed?
NB: Winning games is a start.

MD: Any final comments for the fans?
NB: For too long, this club has sat in the doldrums of mediocrity - it stops today. We might not win every game, but i will not accept anything less than a team which tries.

Cheers mate, much appreciated. I've seen a few people do some cracking NUFC saves so far, so a lot to live upto.

As a Newcastle fan, I'll be reading this.

Just finished my first season with them, won the carling cup, lost the fa cup final to Chelsea and finished 4th or 5th in the table.

Can I suggest the following, sell Gouffran, Swansea will pay up to £8,000,000 for him and look at Pablo Sarabia, excellent LW who you can pick up for about £5/6,000,000.
