Martinez Steps Down

"News has just broke that Roberto Martinez has stepped down as Everton manager. Joining us now is Everton chairman Bill Kenwright."

Everton Appoint Youth Coach

Everton have shocked the football world by appointing former England and Everton player Jack Mullan as manager. The former centre half who scored 3 goals in 16 games for country has found himself in charge of the Goodison Park youth set-up since an injury ended his career short.

"Im sure a lot of fans and pundits are wondering why Jack Mullan. I interviewed a number of candidates, top quality candidates, then one afternoon I had a knock on my door and it was Jack wanting a chance to prove himself. He sat down and explained with such passion and preciceness his vision for the club. He stated that he felt the club had been flirting with the idea of champions league football for the past 10 years and haven't really got there, which is true. He see's the future of this club as young english talent and I love that."

"Words cannot express how i feel. I have been waiting in the wings for some time now and have had to keep this very quiet for a number of reasons. But now the time has come i cannot wait to get started. This country is full of talent, and we overlook them so easily. I have told the board and I am going to go public with this. I believe in the next 2 seasons I will get this team into champions league football and win a trophy in that time. Cocky? Perhaps. But I am going to build a team which will go down in history with the class of '92 and the invincibles."


With Mullan expressing his desire for home grown talent, it is expected that a number of players will be leaving Goodison Park shortly.

MAD MULLAN?

Fans protest outside Goodison Park following transfer dealings.

3 weeks. In 3 weeks new Everton boss Jack Mullan has revamped his squad that now it is unrecognisable from the one he inherited.

Long serving goalkeeper Tim Howard has left the club and has been replaced by Wigans Lee Nicholls. Kevin Mirallas was sold for £15million while Mullan replaced the Belgium international with young Norwich wingers Nathan Redmond and Josh Murphy. A number of high profile players were allowed to leave Goodison Park such as Sylvain Distin, Steven Pienaar and Aiden McGeady. Whilst being replaced with inexperienced and what fans have dubbed over valued youngsters in the form of Josh Sims, Connor Mahoney and Saido Berahino

"I made my intensions very clear. Im looking for the best young talent. During my time as a youth manager, I have watched these players grow and develop and Im excited to work with them and watch them turn into a devastating force. If people get behind me and this team, then anything is achievable."

So far Everton have had 2 friendlies for the fans to see their new look side and one thing they can't say is that it is boring. With a 5-5 draw and a 5-1 win to their name, goals are flowing. But this is just pre-season. It is going to be a long season for the Everton faithful, players and manager alike.

Following a busy pre-season with lots of ins and outs, Jack Mullan has appeared to assemble a young attacking side, its still early days in both his career and those of his players but things look promising​

"We have had a steady start to the season, but i am looking for a lot more. Im glad to see us progress in the Capital One cup, and get such a good start to our Europa League campaign."

"This is how good my team is. In the league we were perfect, scoring freely and solid at the back whilst playing some great stuff. Romelu has continued his great form, showing what a top player he is and im glad he's getting the recognition for it. This award isn't for me. "A great month for us with the only blip being the defeat to Stoke. 2 great results against Arsenal and Hull and we have took control of our group in the Europa League. Im extremely happy with our start to this season"

December

--- Everton sit in 7th place in the Premier League ---

"What a difference a month makes. Some extremely dissappointing results. The 4-0 loss to Man Utd is unforgivable and I understand our fans anger at that result. Trust me, the players were not allowed to forget it. However credit where it is due, the players redeemed themselves with the Liverpool result and by cementing their place in the latter stages of the Europa League by topping the group."

"I have to admit im happy with the draw. We have a strong chance of progressing to the next stage but we know that Roma or Feyenoord wait in the next round. So we will have to be at our best and keep up momentum."

"With the transfer window opening soon everyone expects their to be a flurry of business. I can promise you now. Don't expect any big deals from me or for any of our star players to leave. We know of Arsenals interest in Jags, but he is a key part of what we are, he knows this. I have a couple players in mind to strengthen a couple areas of the team. Whether some of the deals will come off, I cannot say right now."

Charlton's 17 year old centre back Joe Gomez is believed to be a target for Mullan who needs to add a couple of defenders to his squad. The England under 19's captain is widely believed to be destined for the top.

Eric Dier of Tottenham has recently found himself put on the loan list following a difficult 6 months at Spurs, but whether they would loan him out to strengthen a rival is another story.

Southampton's academy products James Ward-Prowse and Sam Gallagher have been linked to Everton in the past. Ward-Prowse has been on the fringes at Southampton, but any deal would involve a fee around the £15million mark. While Gallagher has recently joined Nottingham Forest on loan scoring 4 goals in 8 games, but this transfer would not go through until the end of the season once his loan spell finishes.

Shock move for Everton forward plus 4 new faces

"What a whirlwind few days it has been. Before we begin let me say that it was deepest regrets that we allowed Romelu to leave for Roma. The chairman and myself had a long discussion and came to the decision that we were receiving and excellent fee for him which allowed us to make other deals possible. I wish Romelu all the best and reiterate to fans my vision for this club and where we stand."

"Despite speculation the loan deal for Eric is just that, there is nothing in place to sign him permanently but hopefully that can change as he is a superb player. I fully expect him to push Phil and John for a starting birth, both domestically and internationally."

With only hours of deadline day remaining Everton have secured a deal to bring Stokes Jack Butland to the club.

"Some may be looking at this deal and asking why. Competition for places. That is what breeds success at any football club. We now have 3 of the best young keepers in the country in Lee (Nicholls), Jack (Butland) and Sam (Johnstone). They will all receive game time, football these days is a squad game not just a starting 11." ​

"A difficult month for us in the league, and we conceded too many goals for my liking. It is as simple as that.
I am glad we got through to the next round to face Feyenoord, but we need to put together some form in the league."

March

"I have to say i am delighted following our turn around in the league. Some solid results and none better than the victory over United, which im sure our fans wont soon forget. Its not easy to take going out of the Europa League this way. Feyenoord got the better of us, its as simple as that. We find ourself in 5th place in the league, we need to keep this form up and finish as high as possible without any further distractions."

The loanee defender has really impressed since joining the toffees on loan, a permanent deal looks beneficial to all.

Im delighted with our final position in the league, when you see some of the team we have finished above, it is a credit to the players, who at a young age have shown how good they are. Player Performance

"First I just want to say how proud I am of this squad of young players. That is exactly what it is. A squad, I have used 31 players from within the club. Not only that, the age of this team, with an average age of just 20, we have shown that the young players in this country can and will compete with the best."

"Goals win you games and because of this i would like to highlight 3 players in particular. Nathan Redmond, Josh Murphy and Saido Berahino. In there first season with the club, all 3 have scored an impressive amount of goals for this side, and I just wanted to congratulate them on the achievements."

"I would also like to praise the work of the clubs youth development system, because without them we would not have developed some of these young players. This season our under 18's secured the league title and it was down to a number of the boys who have been involved in the first team squad. Niall McGoldrick, George Fowler, Joe Gomez, Jonjoe Kenny, Jay Dasilva, Ryan Ledson, Liam Walsh, Josh Sims, Patrick Roberts, Connor Mahoney, Connor Hunt and Steven Kinsella. All of these boys have promising futures. They all offer something to this team and have all had game time with the first team. End of Season Awards

"Im delighted for Josh, since signing he has been one of our star players and this is credit to his work rate on the pitch and the training field. This is just the start for him, I expect him to win many more honours in his time with us."

Huge transfer news out of Goodison Park today. Manager Jack Mullan has stunned fans and the footballing world by allowing 3 star players to leave the club.

"Sometimes you have to lose players for others to develop and that is exactly the case here. The deals were all done in the clubs best interest. We got good money for them and they wanted to go. It works for all parties."

With 3 big names leaving the club, Mullan moved quickly to strengthen his Everton side who are predicted to challenge for a Champions League spot this season.
