Had the same message yesterday. I verified the game cache, now it's working perfectly fine with no probs. And as mentioned restart steam aswell

real idiot here guys. i have no idea how to restart steam or verify the game cache? sorry for the trouble

top left in library, scroll down to properites then local files, verify integrity of game cache then after its done its business click play and it will update the game!
