Warmest welcome for everyone visiting this thread, this is my very first story thread, and I’m sooo gutted to share everything I’ve experienced and maybe share one or two tips.

Before starting, I just want to emphasize that – I don’t know about the regulation on this around here, but – I am doing my save without doing ‘the’ thing, the endless temptation of saving before games, then reloading game after bad results, nor using any editors or FMRTE stuff, which I must admit, especially the latter, was very, very tempting to be used on a certain part of my save. I am completely new in this forum, so I had no idea whatsoever whether that is allowed around here – definitely no, right??? – but I know some of my friends who do that and I must admit I did that a couple years back.

But starting from last year’s FM 14, I decided not to and things have never been more peaceful in my heart lol. I actually had a very good save with Nottingham Forest there, unfortunately it is 2015 already and here I am with the all green save!

((P.S. It's not that I have fetish on green colored team or so, I just happened to get Sassuolo and made the commitment. Fortunately Wolfsburg came knocking later on :) ))

Background & Prelude

So, I am actually very sorry to start doing the forum story thingy from roughly my fifth or sixth season, in which I already am at Vfl Wolfsburg in German First Division, but I am more than happy to share the prelude to this stage of game, especially as I embrace the experience so much!

FIRST SEASON

SASSUOLO

So I started off my job back in the relegation-threatened green-outfitted team in Italy. I was actually picking the club because of the club looked challenging on the club choosing page, as we are predicted to finish 14th or 15th but was also blessed with couple of decent players, I recalled looking at the squad then spotting Simone Zaza, which was very good for the Serie A standard. But, magic happened. I found out that the club actually offered me around 14 million bucks transfer kitty and a couple million per annum payroll budget difference to actually achieve 14th spot in Serie A! AND THEY ARE WEARING GREEN!

That is some ****.

THEY ARE GREEN!

Ok jk ofcourse the kitty! 14 mill dammit! 14 mill for 14th! Say it with me!

But, that’s not only the magical **** I found out. Turned out, the decent player I was talking about, wasn’t only him. There were more! I found out that we actually had these beasts, and things could only get better!

View attachment 243116

Simone Zaza

All-rounder complete forward young Italian, what more can you wish for? Sure-fire leader of my pack, hopefully he will bang much goals! I mean, seriously good athlete!

View attachment 243114

Paolo Cannavaro

Pretty decent limited defender in my disposal. Good mental attributes, probably from those experiences challenging for title and top three finish with Napoli years back!

View attachment 243138

Domenico Berardi

As I chose Sassuolo, I was hoping for Simone Zaza and co. team. Turned out we've got this crazy talent here as well. Pretty sure he would go on for the European awards and stuffs, shame he is co-owned with that great Juventus. Had troubles choosing him or Zaza, but as I found out he was good at right wing, why not?

View attachment 243120

Saphir Taider

Above average overall ability as a midfielder. Definitely filling my CM hole on my assymetric midfield system, and I like him as Roaming Playmaker so let him be!

View attachment 243125

Nicola Sansone

Talented Italian Inside Forward on my arsenal! Love how he could cut inside but also finish well. Blessed decent composure and pace, he might be our very left-sided Arjen Robben :9

View attachment 243127

Federico Peluso

Solid choice as my fullback, although a bit lacking in term of attacking/support part of the game expected of fullbacks. Tackles, marks, and heads well, and I am pretty sure he wouldn't let many past that right opposition wing of his.

View attachment 243136

Andrea Consigli

A great GK in my opinion, pretty accomplished in every asked aspects of GK. Many similar attributed GKs though, so doesn't make that much difference compared to other teams, but does make as much impact in games for sure!

View attachment 243117

Sime Vrsaljko

Young Croat fullback who is already looking like a world beater. I don't think he will take long for clubs such as Real Madrid to come knocking.

Tactical Assessment

Simone Zaza alone will definitely bang 10 to 20’s goals a season for us, but having Domenico Berardi and Saphir Taider, although being on loan, is a complete gamechanger. Having 3 four star defenders also helps! We might fancy top half finish, in my opinion. The board did offer me that, though, but the margins between the transfer kitties and payroll were just too slim, we couldn’t afford the risk without significant difference, really.

The tactics I used mainly was my long-time favorite 4-2-3-1 Assymetric Midfield, that would shape something up like this.

View attachment 243079View attachment 243078

Of course that was not my team, that is my current team with Wolfsburg. But the tactic was pretty much that way back then.

I set Standard mentality for my team, as I tends to do the tactical alterations in the match. Flexible was the complimentary team shape, as I'd like to assess things on the pitch.

My instructions also was very Swansea-ish in their first season in Premier League. I was intrigued that they actually put up good possession-based attacking football against the big dogs, but they succeeded so why couldn’t I?

With creative players, my ‘Be More Expressive’ instruction might serve well, as well as possession-oriented instructions like ‘Retain Posession’ and ‘Work Ball Into the Box’ as my team’s passing ability is quite good. As I have Sansone and Berardi on wings, I fully expect them as the fulcrum of my attacks. I emphasized that on the ‘Exploit the Flanks’ instructions, and rightly so, they WILL score much from wings.

In defense, I expect them to ‘Close Down More’, the Mourinho-style hassling but without his deep defensive line tactics, I’d prefer my player to adjust themselves so we don’t defend deep against the likes of Chievo or Parma.

Transfer Activity

After assessing the goods and bads of my team, I finally made some transfer activity to strengthen the club into a force to be reckoned in the league to say the least. After some shrewd negotiations, my transfer activity looked like this.

(( P.S. Sorry if you find crazy PV and wage on some of them, bcs I needed to start again just to take the screenshot and I had to edit a bit with FMRTE lol but it is for screenshot purposes only. The real save was unscathed ;) ))

Denis Stracqualursi

As I am moving Berardi to my AMR – Inside Forward, that means I need a good backup for Simone Zaza. It’s a no-brainer if we are looking for a good striker, as he is FREE! Pretty handy on the air also, making himself available not only as backup, but as alternative attacking plan for overcoming teams with so-so aerial ability of defenders.

View attachment 243133

Gaston Gil Romero (!)

He. Is. Beast. And 9.5 million bucks is absolutely bargain for a man of his quality! Star player for the DM role in my assymetric midfield, and I knew he was going to stop oppositions attacks!

View attachment 243129

Mirko Livaja

Bought him for financial reasons rather than footballing one, to be honest. I am expecting him to develop into a decent player with decent fee, so I can sell him on to other clubs. He is a wonderkid – I guess? – without club, so..

View attachment 243131

Joel Obi

Loaned him from Inter Milan, and he is just the good competition I needed for Gil Romero. Seriously, he is good. For Sassuolo, at least.

View attachment 243134

Nabil Bentaleb

Loaned him also, now coming from Tottenham Hotspurs. I am quite surprised we could get him actually, and he would definitely provide competition and cover for Saphir Taider in midfield.

OFF WE GO! <OFF WE WENT tbh bcs I’m on my fifth season now lol>

First Half of Season

View attachment 243124

My highlight of this part of season was definitely the 1-0 away win at Juventus. I could barely remember the game, but I could remember the goal that had put us one nil up. It was in the 90th minute, and we were soaking up pressure that Juve put on us. When we got the ball, we countered them and in a blink of an eye, Berardi scored a screamer from around 30 yards out! I think that might be reason Juve wanted to hold on for Berardi and went on to purchase all his stakes in the end of season – he was co-owned by Sassuolo and Juventus – for friggin crazy amount of money! But I’ll save that for later :)

View attachment 243093

SO! Long story short – more of the fact that I couldn’t upload the matches nor news from that time :( ;( -- I was holding on just over the middle of the pack, I was 9th by Christmas, accompanied by some crazy results! Beating Juventus away from home might well be my game of season, but losing to Torino or Sampdoria at home really kept us from going any higher on the season’s standing L

ALSO! As I managed to ask Board to increase my payroll, after some adjustments I made my transfer kitty 5.5 million bucks and a couple hundred thousands of payroll. I saw the need of good backup leftback as Peluso is aging and his stats are dropping, but I never thought I actually could find a young, beast replacement for 4.5 million bucks!

View attachment 243121

Nicolas Tagliafico

Absolute bargain at 4.5 million bucks, and he does have some good attacking forays skills which were lacking from Peluso. I ain’t gonna rush him, but definitely a starter for next season!

((no pic :( ))

Dario Bottinelli
A really good Argentinian with good technical abilities, I really like his traits and the fact that he was available for free. It’s new to my knowledge that South and North American seasons and contracts finishes at December 31st, so I simply snapped him up from Chile.

View attachment 243128

Osmar

A useful backup defender with also good attacking forays traits. He is actually a Ball Playing Defender, and he is really good spraying passes all round the green field. Seriously. Whew.

SO! Off we go again! ((Off we went I mean :>))

Second Half of Season

View attachment 243123

The final day of the season was absolutely the highlight – I actually managed to defend our 9th place by capping off a very fine season with a heart-pumping nine goal thriller away at Roma. My acquisition of Tagliafico, Bottinelli, and Osmar really improved the attacking aspect of Sassuolo’s game – we could attack whenever we wanted to! Literally. We were 2-0 up at the Olimpico, then I told them to soak up pressure and take some breather they deserved. The plan backfired as Roma turned **** around in 6-minute salvo! ****, these guys had that AC Milan balls.

View attachment 243095

I thought we had nothing to lose, so I subbed Peluso for Tagliafico as Complete Wing Back and Acerbi for Osmar as Ball Playing Defender. I kinda forgot the equalizing goal, but the unforgettable goal was the winning one. Even though I am now with Wolfsburg, it just doesn’t fade away.

Cannavaro receives the ball from GK Consigli, the he lays the ball for Osmar to start the attack. He looks up, spotting Tagliafico at the left wing, then lashing the hail mary pass all the way to the penalty box. BANG! Tagliafico did a Zidane volley but he did better – he didn’t stop his run and simply volleyed the ball into top corner! It was parried away, but Zaza was there to pounce. 4-3 for us!

**** I REALLY WISHED I HAD SAVED THE REPLAY but unfortunately it was all gone. I swear in any name there is swearable that I am telling the truth :(.

Finally, I could cap off a good season with an absolutely more demanding Board next season!

That’s all for now, I’m gonna be posting more soon! Fufufu

Cheers!
