Today in a sensational twist to the Manchester United saga over whose taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson after he resigned last week Eric Cantona has been appointed manager in what is his first managerial post, Cantona who is seen as a king by the Old Trafford faithful hadnt been mentioned in any paper been linked with the job but today was unveiled in a move which is seen by many as a step too far for the Frenchman and could ruin his reputation with the fans who hold him in such high regard.

The board took the decision after Steve Bruce stated in a interview that he seen the job as something for the future and he wanted to consentrate on his current job.

Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes have both came out publically today to reassure fans they have faith in Cantona's ability to manage such a massive club, Giggs added 'hes the greatest player i've played with, whose to say he won't be the greatest manager i've played under?'

Cantona has admitted he made mistakes as a player but wants to get down to business as a manager, he left the game after falling out of love with the beautiful game, his love is back and so are Manchester United ....

* Press conference coming shortly.

The king of Manchester walks into the crowded room, full of expectatant journalists, the people he used to dispise as a player ... silence fell apon the room as everyone looked at the man who was taking over the huge responsibility of managing the greatest club in the world, then suddenly ... one sole man with long scraggy hair resembling George Best gets to his feet and starts slowely clapping whilst not taking his eyes off Mr. Cantona, Eric replies with a smile and a bow of recognision of the male clapping then takes his seat looking full of confidence.

Mr. Cantona, Welcome to Manchester have you missed us ?

I have missed certain aspects of Britain, your fine weather is always a pleasure. I have missed the love of this club being here previously i had a relationship with the fans which i want to recindle.

How on earth did you manage to get this job Eric, you have no previous management history, surely its a huge gamble being taken by you as a man and the board ?

Life is about gambles my friend, i have lived a great life as a footballer but Cantona the footballer is dead i am back to finish what Sir Alex started and knock Liverpool further off their purch. I love this club, the people and many of the players will love me because i am me and i have love.

Big shoes to fill, will you be adjusting your squad in the coming weeks before the season starts?

I want to take this ermmm, moment, to thank Mr. Ferguson for recommending to the board that i was appointed as manager, he has helped me greatly in life and the man is someone i owe alot of gratitude too. Secondly, yes i have bought a few players already but i am keeping them under wraps and they'll all be announced together and will give the footballing world a shock.

What players will be leaving?

Ah, nice question. I can firmly say i have targeted players to leave and have clubs intrested in my players. Ji Sung Park, O'Shea, Cleverley and Eikrem will all hopefully be furthering their career's elsewhere this season as i have replacements for them in mind already. Deals will be done in days i am not a man to wait and i am not a man who just talks, action will be my philosophy as a manager.

Thank you all for coming today but i must dash, i am going to meet one of my targets who will hopefully be making the trip from the other side of Manchester shortly, that is all goodbye.

Breaking news this hour is that Manchester United new manager has signed no less than four new players who have been unveiled earlier this morning. Cantona has spent a total of £75 million on the four up and coming English born stars which is a very good sign for England.

Jack wilshere has been sold to Manchester United leaving Arsenal manager Wenger understandably furious with the chairman making the decision to sell without him knowing, the figure of £20 million has been touted by senior staff at Old Trafford.

Moving across Manchester is out of favour City goalkeeper Joe Hart who had a outstanding season at Birmingham last year, he is seen as a player who has alot of promise and will replace Edwin Van Der Sar when the time is seen right by Mr. Cantona, his fee is believed to also be £20 million pound but due to his age and coming from local rivals fans are happy.

Probably the most questionable transfer in United's recent history, young Wilfred Zaha joins for £2.5 million from Championship club Crystal Palace. He's a pacey centre forward but Cantona may want to exploit his pace by training him up as a winger.

Jack Rodwell is the last but certainly not least of Cantona's summer spending spree, the versatile young starlet will replace Paul Scholes whenever he isnt available or when the time comes for Scholes to retire, the fee of £32 million was a blow to Cantona's spending budget but he see's the buy as essential to carry on United's tradition of winning trophys.

Rodwell for 32 million :P you could have got him alot cheaper. But hope he does well for you

Thanks to anyone following by the way, hope i can get this going and be as enjoyable for the reader as it is for me :)

Rodwell was a tough one really, Berbatov cost United £31 million so spending more on a player whose so young yet talented shouldnt be too much of a sticking out point i dont think.

NEWS FLASH: Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, VD Sar and Gary Neville have all signed new 2 year contracts which has left Cantona estatic and very hopeful for the new season.

Does anyone want me to post my pre season or shall i just crack on with the season and post monthly updates ? :)

post what ever you think we need to know nice start so far but 20 million on Hart could get him a lot cheaper in second season.

Seems good I will follow :) ! Very informative and very "Cantona"

Will give a basic analysis of the pre season aswel, cheers for following guys, any feedback on this story would be much appreciated aswel whether it be good or bad.
