THE SIR ALEX FERGUSON CHALLENGE
Before I continue with the setup and rules, I would like to say hello to the community. I have been lurking around this site for a long while but never posted as I am very new to fm only started last year. By no means I am not good at this game and most of the time in my save I end up raging cause I just don't understand tactics. I've always wanted to make a story by school as prevented me but as I am on break I finally have free-time. That is about it I hope you guys enjoy my store. Also If yo have tips feel free to comment.

I remember TouchyFM doing this in Fm15 not going on with it and found it from another called neoseker and I really liked the idea but both stories died and don't think either completed it. Also I will not be emulating Ferguson himself I will create myself in game and aim to be better than Ferguson

Rules:

Holiday until November 6: Ferguson took over Manchester on Novermber 1986
Take over the team 2nd bottom in the Premiership: United were 2nd bottom when Fergie took over
Stay at this one club: Ferguson stayed at United until 2013
Aim to bring youth players through: Ferguson often focused on bringing youth through, notably in 1995 with the likes of Giggs, Beckham, Neville, Scholes, **** to name but a few, aka Fergie's Fledglings.
Persuade long term players to become part of your backroom staff and/or managers: Scholes, Solskjaer, Bruce, Keane, Berg, Ince, Robson, Hughes, Strachan, Blanc, Robins etc.
To not spend over 62 Millions pounds which for me is around 90 Million Dollars and 8 signings per year: Ferguson never spent over 62 Million and never signed more than 11 players and only 8 where in the first eleven

Goals I want to Achieve:
The targets for the challenge in terms of competitions are:
  1. Win a domestic cup within 4 years
  2. Win a league title within 7 years
  3. Win a league and cup double within 7 years
  4. Win a league, cup and Champions League treble within 13 years
  5. WIn up to at least 10 League titles. Goals from here and down are person goals for me.
  6. Win at least 14 Fa Cups/Capitol One Cup/Community Shield.(In Total)
  7. Try and pass Ferguson in Hall Of Fame
I will hope to complete all of this but number 7 will be very hard.

Anyone have tips on creating graphics for stories aswell?

Sir Alex Ferguson Challenge

Welcome to an update. I will present my team and some key players and my plan with the team.

Here we are in November 6. Me being an me I thought it was November 9 but then realized how wrong I was when rereading the rules for my first post. I will be taking over West Bromwich Albion. Mixed feelings. Probably a team that should be in mid table. They definitely lack in some areas but I hope I can help them succeed.

KEY PLAYERS

Experienced Goalkeeper. Hope he will be showing his experience on the pitch and keep some clean sheets.

Former Manchester United Player and still very good. I would like to keep hold of him as he is basically my best defenders. I plan on using him as a cover so when does pacey strikers try to sleep through he has the speed and strength to get the ball back.

Probbably one of the best players on my team according to my scouts. Chelsea are already trying to poach him and I don't mind letting him go if a 36+ Million Dollars Bid comes through. I will be using him on the wing as he as good crossing and I want rondon as the striker.

WBA record transfer fee of 12 Millions Pounds. I hope he unleashes the inner Venezuelan striking prowess inside of him and prove why he cost so much. Will be our main striker and don't plan to sell him. I don't want a flop.

NOVEMBER UPDATE

I can see why WBA are doing so bad. Most of their opponent have being against top teams but WBA should be not be drawing against the likes of Watford or losing to Bournemouth who both just got promoted.

I had my first game the next day against Manchester city. I used a 4231 to counter their own. And knew they had pacy forwards so I played Chester of Olsson to make sure no through balls pass through. But before I entered the game I had a interview.

Interview: Being hired as the manager of WBA what are your plans for the club.
Me: Well for now I would like to play it game by game and get them out of the relegation zone and see from there.
Interview: Having such little time to prepare how do you plan to play and do you expect a win from your team against such a big team.
Me: (In my head mate a win I would be happy if I only concede 3 goals, I still barely know the players and the ones I know I plan on getting rid of. I honestly was just going to let the game just run while I do something else but I was surprised.) Well I know Manchester City have pacy forwards and like to hold possession so I am heavily relying on my midfield to get the ball from the other team's player and go on the counter.
Interview: Thank you for your time. Good Luck.
Me: Thanks for having me. Before I leave to the pitch I do a quick prayer and hope not to be embarrassed.

Tactic I played.

Final Score. Manchester United 2-WBA 2. I was absolutely ecstatic, drawing with Manchester City a champions league club on my first game on my second day on the job. Mate might as well start calling me Sir Tosin Oyedemi. I was about to leave to attend else where as I thought I would be battered Sessegnon. scores a beauty from the edge of the box and then Darren Fletcher slips through Man city defense and slots it in the bottom corner. The second Half Man City went all out. I stayed on control then 3 minutes later Navas goes out on the wings completely bullys my winger and beats foster to near post. So I go to standard. 20 Minutes I thought to my self a 2-1 win. But then Evans is caught out of position Nasri slips Aguero in and he smashes it so I then went to contain and was completely fine with the draw. Man I feel good.

NEXT UP LIVERPOOL

After beating Man City I was confident that we could maybe get a win against Liverpool. My first home game .I had to win, the fans are worried that the board hired a random Nigerian, but maybe if I start getting results this early they will start to appreciate me Either side could have won this game. Very even match ,the keeper where kept active. In the end I was happy again with the result and performance. Hopefully we can have another performance like this next game.

After getting two draws against two top teams, I thought Newcastle would be an easy opponent. I was wrong, the stats may say we had a pretty even match but we were absolutely dominated. We committed a lot of stupid fouls. I was going to take the loss until Sessegnon backed us a draw. Very disappointing draw.

November
We played 3 games and got 3 points. For me very good month we stayed unbeaten and I have gotten the chance to analyze the team.

POTM: When I first join WBA the first things I told the players is show me why you play for the club, show me some passion and Stephane Sessegnon did exactly that, he was very vital for the team he scored two and assisted one in 3 games and has truly impressed him.

I like the idea behind the Ferguson challenge and I might start it in a few weeks, except a bit different. None of this transfer limit stuff because I'll probly never be spending that much, more the concentrate on youth side of things. And I think I will start unemployed and then holiday until an EPL job becomes available and apply.

Everyone has a different play style I tend to use youths as well but I just develop them then sell them on then get more youths. Keep me on your save aswell.

December Update

I Forgot to screenshot the games I had for December before playing them so sorry about that but I have the screenshot for after the games.

But he matches being played are Away to Aston Villa in Capitol Cup Quarter Final
Home to Aston Villa in League
Away to Arsenal in League
Home to Swansea City in League
Away to Stoke City in League
Away to Norwich City in the League
And Home to Stoke City in the League

Well the three unbeaten run comes to an end in what was such a one sided match. There two wingers completely outclassed my defenders and my center defenders were too slow for their striker. Our dreams of a quick trophy comes to end as we crash out the capitol one cup.

We faced Aston Villa again but this time in the League. Knowing how they played last time I completely countered them althought there forward 4 was quite different. But nevertheless we get the win and the team are still unbeaten in the league with me managing them.

After drawing with Man City and Liverpool I thought we could go for another draw but my fullback option was limited as I had fitness issues so that destroyed my defensive plans. Giroud Scored twice surprise surprise one of them was a header.

After losing to Arsenal I wanted to get the morale up. But this would be a hard game Swansea who were overachieving and found themselves in 7th and the have a good squad. I told the team exactly how it was "This game is too important after only one win in 5 games we need the 3 points". We wanted the win and w got it thankfully. Saloman Rondon proving he was worth the money and getting two goals to give us three points .
