WEST HAM HIRE ROOKIE MANAGER

West Ham have today revealed that rookie manager Ben Davis would be taking the Hammers' hot seat. After a fall out between Avram Grant and the West Ham board, The Hammers decided that Grant was not the man for the job. After carrying out some detailed research, the staff at West Ham discovered a young, yet talented manager by the name of Ben Davis.

avram_grant.jpg

Mr.Davis began life as a Sunday League footballer at the age of 9 years old. He played for the likes of 'Hedge End A', and 'Botley Village A'. After just 7 years playing football, Ben Davis decided that he wanted to go into management. With little footballing experience under his belt, he was forced to manager his former club, Hedge End A, at the age of 16. A whole 10 years had passed until Ben Davis was finally recognised, and the rookie manager recieved a contract offer from Zamaretto Division One South & West side, Farnborough. The Farnborough scouts had been out at the Sunday League pitches to look for possible new players, however discovered a manager instead. Ben Davis soon accepted the offer from Farnborough, and began a 4 year spell in charge, earning promotion to the Blue Square South. At the beginning of Davis' 5th year in charge of the club, he asked for a small wage rise, which the Farnborough board didn't react well to. Shortly after, Davis was sacked.

Just a few days later, Ben Davis was asked to be the new West Ham United manager by the owner, David Sullivan. Davis was said to be shocked at the question, however quickly accepted the offer, before it became too late. With Davis thought to be the man to take the club forward, the fans are full of optimism ahead of the new season. Ben Davis has set the team a target of a mid-table finish for his first season in charge. Any higher than this, and Ben Davis has promised his whole team a wage rise of 15% at the end of the season.

Will Mr.Davis be the right man for the job, or will his in-experience show? All we can do is wait.

DAVIS MAKES DOUBLE SWOOP

Ben Davis has today made his first 2 signings for West Ham United. The 2 players in question are former Manchester City and Aston Villa striker Darius Vassel, and former Manchester United and Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre. Both were signed on free transfers, after they were both released by Manchester City and Arsenal respectively. Darius Vassel, 29, has asked for a contract until summer 2011 on a £9,250 per week basis. The West Ham fans are delighted that such an experienced player has joined their team. The other signing, Mikael Silvestre, is a couple of years older than Vassel, at 31. Silvestre has shown he is first team material at his 2 previous Premiership clubs, Manchester United and Arsenal. Mikael has also signed a contract until summer 2011, but has requested slightly more money, at £16,000 per week. The owner of the club, David Sullivan was happy to pay both sets of wages until summer 2011, and now Vassel and Silvestre have the Pre-Season to prove themselves to new manager Ben Davis.

PRE-SEASON GETS UNDERWAY

West Ham United's pre-season has got underway today, after The Hammers were drawn against Cisco Roma in the Semi-Finals of the Di Canio Cup. Ben Davis, the new West Ham manager explained earlier this week, that Paulo Di Canio can not go forgotten at Upton Park. Therefore, an annual pre-season tournament has been arranged, involving West Ham, and 3 other teams that Di Canio previously played for. The teams to participate this year are Cisco Roma, an Italian Serie C Division 2 side, who Di Canio played for, for a short period of time. Also in the hat for the draw were Celtic, Scottish giants, and Napoli; the Serie A outfit from Italy. Luckily, West Ham were drawn against the easiest team for the Semi-Finals of the tournament, and didn't really have much to worry about in the opposition team. Ben Davis told the players pre-match, to show him why they deserved a first team spot come the beginning of the Premier League season. This is how the match panned out...

_38873125_can203_2.jpg

After just 2 minutes, left winger Luis Boa Morte scored a tap in, to make the score 1-0. 11 minutes later, Boa Morte made it 2, with a cross-come-shot from the edge of the area. On the 17th minute, the West Ham team realised that the match would be a walk in the park, when new signing Darius Vassel made it 3-0. Just 2 minutes after that, the other new signing, and defender, Mikael Silvestre made the scoreline read 4-0 to West Ham. Half time was called, with the score 4-0 to the home side, and Ben Davis swapped the enitre team, expect for keeper Rob Green, who Davis planned to play in every pre-season game for the full 90 minutes. It was just 6 minutes into the second half, when substitute Frederic Piquionne made it 5-0. The goal was the simplest of finished, after the Cisco keeper parried the ball straight to the 31 year old's feet. West Ham showed total dominance it the second half, and the ball failed to enter the home teams 18 yard box. The 89th minute approached, and Frederic Piquionne had a shot from around 35 yards out! The ball was drilled towards the mouth of the goal, and the Cisco keeper seemed to have it covered. However at the final second, the ball swerved to hit the post and go into the net. 6-0! There was still time to increase the scoreline in West Ham's favour, and 1 minute into stoppage time, Carlton Cole made the score 7-0, with a close range shot. The match ended another minute later, and the West Ham fans were delighted with the victory that their team had achieved. However, there was nothing to read from the result, as Ben Davis clearly stated after the game, saying "Of course, it was a tremendous performance out there today. However, the team we played were nothing compared to us, so we have to make sure we can beat the bigger teams aswell." A few hours after the game, the West Ham squad recieved news that they would be playing Celtic in the final of the Di Canio Cup.

A chance for Davis to answer his own statement, to prove his team can beat the bigger teams. Find out in tommorow's issue of the West Ham Times.

good luck mate
love that capital letter at the start of each paragraph

Thanks! I know that some people are not too fond of the match-by-match story layout. However I have decided that this is easier for me to get the story accross, as well as my views on each thing. The only thing is, is the time that it takes to do each article. If I end up not posting anymore, you can presume that I have given up! :D

DI CANIO: PROUD TO BE A HAMMER

"Proud to be a hammer", where the words of Paulo Di Canio following West Ham's 2-1 victory in the Di Canio Cup Final over Celtic. West Ham were handed Scottish giants Celtic in the final of the Di Canio Cup at Upton Park, after both teams managed to win in their Semi-Final fixtures. New West Ham boss Ben Davis said that the match against Celtic would be a proper test, to see if his team were good enough to beat the 'big' teams.

_39411689_paolo_g33.jpg

Upton Park saw a sellout for the Celtic game, and the match was sure to be a test for the Hammers. Ben Davis fielded his strongest side, to see what they could do. In a pre-match interview with the gaffer, Mr.Davis indicated that he would be sticking with his halftime team swap policy for the remainder of the pre-season. This means that Ben will be substituting the whole team at halftime, to give everybody a chance to prove themselves.

2169131131_68f7039747.jpg

The match kicked off at 7:30pm, and everybody was ready to witness a great game of football. In the opening minutes, Celtic looked to be the stronger side, continuously pushing for a opener. The shock came on the 37th minute, when Carlton Cole had the simplest of jobs, scoring in a one-on-one situation with the Celtic keeper. 1-0 to West Ham! Nothing much happened between the goal and the halftime whistle, and before the teams knew it, they were walking to the tunnel for the interval. Ben Davis, like he said, swapped his entire team for the 2nd half, apart from the number 1, Robert Green. The second half kicked off, and The Hammers looked very confident on the ball, and only managed to let Celtic have 2 shots on goal, before West Ham made it 2-0. Thomas Hitzlsperger with a freekick from atleast 38 yards out! The croud went wild. But then just 8 minutes later, on the 82nd minute of the game, Celtic defender Darren O'Dea nodded in from a corner. Luck seemed to be on West Ham's side, when Celtic managed to strike the post twice in stoppage time. The Hammers held on, and lifted the Di Canio Cup shortly afterwards. After the game, the legend himself, Paulo Di Canio was asked to say some words infront of the croud.

west-ham-1965-gallery.jpg

"Hello again, West Ham United! It is so good to be back to the club I love. And no disrespect to the other teams I played for, but this is by far my favourite of them all! And it's at moments like this, when I can honestly say, I am proud to be a Hammer!" The croud cheared and clapped for a while after the short speach, before slowly beginning to pour out of Upton Park. A great day for everybody at West Ham!

Elsewhere in the Di Canio Cup, Napoli beat fellow Italian side Cisco Roma 3-0 to clinch the 3rd place for the competition.

HAMMERS ANNOUNCE LINK WITH DONS

West Ham have today announced a link with MK Dons. The N-Power League 1 side have only been a team since the early days of 2004, replacing F.C. Wimbledon. West Ham were without any affiliated clubs when new boss Ben Davis took charge, however he decided there was a need to have some smaller clubs associated with The Hammers. After the boards made some reccomendations to Davis, he chose MK Dons to be the most appropriate choice, and so the link was made.

milton-keynes-dons-fc.png

The link means that West Ham will be able to send players on loan to The Dons, where the players wages are payed in full by West Ham United. Along with this, MK Dons and West Ham will host an annual friendly at Upton Park, where all gate income will be kept by MK Dons, but West Ham do not have to field a full strength squad. The final agreement, is that West Ham will have to pay an annual fee of £41,000 to Milton Keynes.

Scott-Parker-Dietmar-Hamann-MK-Dons-v-West-Ha_2481876.jpg

After going through the proposed agreements, Ben Davis, and the West Ham board were delighted to announce their first affiliated club of the new era. Ben Davis has said to expect more clubs to follow in the footsteps of MK Dons in the future.

0,,10420~8930316,00.jpg

Along with the news of the MK Dons link, the new 2009/2010 kit range has been unvieled by Ben Davis himself at Upton Park today. West Ham have said that they have new deals with a huge kit manufacturer, and a world re-known shirt sponsor. Along with this, the team have said that the kit is unlike any other, and is sure to be a hit with the fans.

2009.2010-resized-600.jpg

The 'huge' new kit manufacturer mentioned by the West Ham marketing team, is none other than Nike. Nike are the most popular of their kind by a long way, and it is certain that the West Ham fans will be delighted to have them as their brand new shirt manufacturer. The new shirt sponsor also mentioned by the marketing team, is worldwide lorry manufacturer and supplier, Iveco. The word Iveco appears on both home and away shirts. However it has had to be moved more over to the right of the shirt, because of the brand new design that West Ham are proud to reveal!

iveco_stralis_1.jpg

The design features the usual collar and sleeve trim, along with some never before seen tiger stripes down the left of the shirt. These stripes are rather unique, and the marketing team at West Ham say the fans will love it. Both kits feature blue trim, whilst the home kit has a white second stripe, and the away kit has a claret second stripe. And to finish up on the story, we cannot go without showing you the kits. We have exclusive pictures from West Ham, and they say, enjoy!

IRONS LET GO OF OVER PAYED MIDFIELDER

West Ham have announced the deal to take over payed Kieron Dyer to German club FC Koln. The English midefielder was being payed £70,000 per week at West Ham, and when negotiations were held to try and get Kieron to sign a new, lower payed contract, he refused to accept. Following the actions by Dyer, Ben Davis, and the rest of the West Ham staff agreed that selling him was the only option.

Kieron_Dyer_630000.jpg

Dyer was immediately placed on the transfer list, and attracted many of the world greatest clubs pretty quickly. In the mix to sign Dyer were clubs like Valencia, Werder Bremen, Lyon, and Tottenham. However it was the German club FC Koln who offered him the best contract.

1%20FC%20Koln.png

The deal to take Kieron to Koln was a fee of £2,500,000. Shortly after his transfer though, things got hairy. Dyer had accepted a contract of £21,000 per week at FC Koln, £49,000 per week less than what he got at West Ham. With that clearly not enough for the big-headed midfielder, he demanded that West Ham continue to pay him another £30,000 per week until his Hammers contract expires in summer 2011. Clearly baffled that Kieron Dyer was being such an idiot about things, Ben Davis agreed to the proposal, just so that Dyer would leave him alone. Getting a healthy £2,500,000 for the player wasn't such a bad deal.

55500_351X180.jpg

On the same day as Kieron left for Germany, Ben Davis bought in his first transfer for a fee. Davis earlier in the week, stated that the club were in need of another left back incase Ilunga got injured throughout the season. The choice that Davis made, was to bring in Stoke City left back Carl Dickinson for a fee of £2,000,000.

Carl%20Dickinson_633705475420466250.jpg

The 22 year old defender has a reputation for being sent off a number of times, and therefore the reason that Ben Davis decided he would be the backup left back for the season. Dickinson didn't seem bothered by the fact that he wouldn't be getting much first team football, however Davis gave him the news that he could play for the reserves whenever he wanted, which seemed to make the matter a bit better for Carl.

0,,10273~5313365,00.jpg

After leaving Stoke City, Dickinson said that he was upset that he moved from the Britannia Stadium, after having a good relationship with the fans there. Ben Davis lifted his spirits soon after, by telling reporters that the West Ham fans will make him feel right at home, when the moment comes for his debut for The Hammers.

Davis has said to expect a lot more in the transfer market yet. And the first place that you'll find out about that next big player is here, with the West Ham Times. Be back for the next issue!

WEST HAM GO TO ARGENTINA

West Ham have travelled to Argentina to face the countries biggest club, Boca Juniors, in their 3rd pre-season match. The West Ham faithful have sold out their entire allocation for the game, which is a total of 2,729 seats. The fans began their travelling around 3 days ago, to ensure they don't miss a minute of the Argentinian football experience.

article-1054854-02A0458B00000578-989_468x286.jpg

A day before the game, Ben Davis was asked to attend a press conference to discuss the game. He was met by 4 local Argentinian reporters, who each had their own translator for Davis' benefit. "Mr.Davis, how do you intend to play tonight?" "Well, I will obviously be looking for the victory. This of course will mean playing an attacking style." "Ben, will you be using your halftime team swap policy again today?" "Yes. I will be using it throughout the entire pre-season. The only acception of the swap is our goalkeeper, Robert Green. I would like him to play every minute of football in the pre-season campaign to ensure he is ready for the new season." "How many fans have your team brang to Buenos Aires for the game tommorow?" "Haha. Well, I am pleased to say, we have sold out our entire allocation, which is 2,729 seats. Be prepared for a great atmosphere!" "Finally, Mr.Davis, Will we be seeing your teams brand new kit for the match?" "Of course you will. Our first 2 friendlies were played in our kit from last season, but following the reveal of our new kit, we can now play in it. I am sure you will love it!"

istockphoto_7325731-microphones-at-press-conference.jpg

The game against Boca kicked off at 7:30pm on the 22nd July, and a crowd of 23,603. Luckily, the West Ham fans were all seated, in the stadium which only has around 19,500 seats. The other 4,000 odd Boca fans were standing; but they didn't mind.

my_gap_year.1143162180.image11120.jpg

Another superb start for West Ham, as young winger Pablo Barrera netted on the 4th minute. Things were going well for Davis' side, when a sudden counter attack from Boca allowed Martin Palermo to fire home. The scoreline read 1-1. 6 minutes later, on the 26th minute, West Ham were awarded a freekick from around 29 yards out following a horrific tackle from Juan Roman Riquelme. Roman recieved the marching orders, and began a slow walk towards the tunnel. Scott Parker lined up the freekick, but then out of nowhere, Thomas Hitzlsperger hit the ball. It flew like an arrow right into the back of the goal! Scott Parker wasn't too annoyed at Thomas, and the two ran off celebrating. 2-1 to West Ham. Halftime seemed to approach very quickly, and Ben Davis, as usual, swapped the team, except Rob Green. The new team walked onto the pitch for the 2nd half, and were very surprised when Martin Palermo almost scored his second goal just 20 seconds into the second half. Rob Green showing why he was the first choice keeper with a fantastic last second dive, punching it out for a corner. The tension was building towards the end of the half, and the West Ham fans were chanting for England. The 81st minute came, and Benni McCarthy powered one in from the edge of the the 12 yard box. The score read 3-1 to The Hammers, and remained that way until the final whistle was blown.

JuanRomanRiquelme_556207.jpg

Ben Davis was very happy after the game, and promised to take his team out for a meal the following night. A good result for West Ham, and the fans will be pleased that their journey was worthwile.

AT HOME TO HEARTS

Today West Ham took on SPL side Hearts. The weather was set to be very miserable, and showers were forcasted throughout the entire day. It wasn't until 7:45pm that the match would be kicked off, and manager Ben Davis was confident that the weather would brighten up before then. Davis declined an invite to a pre-match conference, and said that he was preparing for the game, and couldn't fit the conference into his schedule. The reporters reacted in a negative manner. To stop any bad things that the reporters may say or do, David handed all of them a free ticket for the match against Hearts.

weather-showers.gif

7:00pm arrived, and it was clear that the weather was no closer to brightening up for the match. Davis was adamant that the croud would still turn up for the match. And to boost the attendance that little bit more, Davis employed a one day only deal, where fans could get a free name and number on the back of their new replica shirts.

Diamanti.jpg

It seems the plan didn't work, and as the players jogged onto the pitch for the first half, only 12,046 fans were present. "No matter," said Ben Davis, when he saw the croud. The match began, and within 13 minutes, The Hammers scored. Italian forward Alessandro Diamanti slotted home from an almost impossible angle to make the score 1-0. Ben Davis was clearly dissapointed by the turnout, and told all of the his players to overload the opposition with attack after attack. The squad didn't react too well at Davis' decision. The mood around the ground dropped, and it showed, as Hearts play Andrew Driver powered in an equalizer on the 17th minute. Even more dispair followed, as Darius Vassel recieved a red card after bringing down Andrew Driver in the West Ham area. Luckily, Rob Green was at hand to save the penalty. Ben Davis realised his overload plan was not working, and switched back to the original method. However, Hearts made the extra man count on the 32nd minute, when Kevin Kyle scored a placed shot from the edge of the area. Hafltime came, and Ben Davis swapped his team, as usual. He told his new team to find that all important goal. However, nothing worked for The Hammers. Who after another 45 minutes were still 2-1 down. The match ended, and the team walked slowly off the pitch, to the sound of boo's from the West Ham fans.

article-1195501-0064973300000258-363_468x470.jpg

Clearly not happy with the result, Ben Davis still reacted positively in the post-match interview. "Ben, are you dissapointed with the result today?" "Well, what can I say. Of course I am. However, I feel it could make the team perform better in the next match."

HOLMAR LEAVES FOR FIORENTINA

Today, 19 year old Icelandic defender Holmar Eyjolfsson has left West Ham for Italian club, Fiorentina. The fee is thought to be around £1,000,000, and although Ben Davis has admitted the player has a brilliant future ahead of him, the fee was apparently "too good to turn down."

0,,12562~3772199,00.jpg

With Holmar just sitting in the reserves, Ben Davis thought the best of the youngster, and let him begin his proffesional career in football. In an interview following the departure of Holmar, Davis stated, "Holmar has a very bright future ahead of him. However he is not in my first team plans, and I think it is best for the player to begin his fledging career elsewhere. The offer we recieved from Fiorentina was very good, and was honestly too good to turn down."

0,,12562~7277023,00.jpg

The entire West Ham team have agreed that to sell Eyjolfsson was the best thing to do, and they all wish him the very best in his future. Good luck Holmar!

A BUSY DAY FOR THE IRONS

Today has seen alot going on at the West Ham camp. 2 new players have arrived this morning, and we believe that they have already signed for the club. Also, The Hammers have played Mexican club, Pumas.

80801.gif

To begin with, the 2 new players that arrived at Upton Park this morning. We have reason to believe that they signed for West Ham earlier in the week, however the decision to announce the signings has been held back until now. Well, now we can reveal that the 2 players are in fact Romanian midfielder Paul Codrea, and English defender Greg Halford.

paul_codrea.jpg

Paul Codrea is an experienced Romanian international, earning 36 caps for his country. West Ham have signed the 28 year old for a fee in the region of £1,000,000 from Italian club Siena. The manager, Ben Davis, said that his invaluable experience will help West Ham to achieve the mid-table finish that are hoping for in the forthcoming season. Codrea has told us that he is delighted to be working with such a nice group of people, and is looking forward to the task ahead of him.

Paul_Codrea_570629.jpg

The other signing that The Hammers has revealed today is 24 year old, right back, Greg Halford. Greg has had an action packed career so far, and at the age of just 24, there is still plenty more left in him. Reports are saying that The Hammers have signed Halford for £2,100,000 from fellow Premiership side Wolverhampton Wanderers. He has agreed a contract with West Ham, which will keep him at the club until summer 2013, on a £14,000 per week basis. Greg is very happy to have joined the London team, and is very optimistic about the opportunities which West Ham may provide him with.

greg-halford-288300131.jpg

Something else happening on this day, is a friendly between West Ham, and Mexican club Pumas at Upton Park. Ben Davis has agreed to feature both new signings in his starting line-up for the match, which has come to the delight of both players. A 3:00pm kickoff, and decent weather too. Ben Davis was hoping for a bigger and better croud for The Hammers' last home friendly before the season get's underway.

sun%20protection.jpg

The teams made their way onto the pitch for the first half to begin. As promised by Davis, both Halford and Codrea were in amongst the West Ham team. The terrific starts were becoming a habit for The Irons, when just 4 minutes in, Luis Boa Morte scored a placed shot from 9 yards out. West Ham remained the dominant team in the first half, almost making it 2-0, when new signing Paul Codrea fired against the crossbar from long range. Halftime came, and West Ham were confident as they jogged back onto the pitch for half number 2. The whole team had yet again been changed for the second half, except of course goalkeeper Robert Green. Three minutes in, and it seemed Rob Green was in need of a rest, after his parried the ball straight into the path of Pumas player Alejandro Jimenez, who scored with ease. 1-1. The croud egged The Hammers on in a tight affair, when the chanting payed off in the 83rd minute. Sub striker Carlton Cole with the goal, after the Pumas keeper copied the actions of Rob Green earlier in the match.

article-0-0A022B92000005DC-401_468x286.jpg

An attendance of 21,069 was announced after the match. Almost 10,000 more than last weeks game against Hearts. Davis was delighted with the croud, and the score. And most importantly, his team! West Ham have 1 remaining friendly before the big kick-off of the Premier League season. Follow us as we keep you up to date with the recent goings on at West Ham United!

KEEPER ARRIVES, DEFENDER DEPARTS

More transfer news today, as West Ham boss Ben Davis has done two deals. The deals have been to bring a new backup keeper to Upton Park, whilst the other see's a defender leave for Portugal.

Portugal.png

The first of the 2 deals, was to being in a much needed backup keeper ahead of the new season. Ben Davis seemed in a hurry to bring in somebody that was up for the job. However, not only would the keeper be backup, but the successor to Rob Green once his playing days are over. This meant that the keeper had to be young, and reasonably good. The keeper who The Hammers have signed is 21 year old Frankie Fielding from Blackburn Rovers. The money involved was relatively small, with the transfer only involving a fee of £275,000, and Frankie only wanting £1,200 per week at Upton Park.

Frank-Fielding-Northampton-Crewe-Alexandra-20_1273449.jpg

Fielding is extremely happy to finally get his career started, after having numerous loan spells at lower league clubs up until now. The other deal which was completed today is the departure of 23 year old rightback, Jonathan Spector. After being told that he was not in Davis' first team plans for the up and coming season, Spector was quick to request a transfer. Ben Davis was quick to react, and placed the defender on the list the following day. Just 5 hours after being placed on the transfer list, Benfica made an offer of £1,500,000 for the American. Other offers were flying in too, however Jonathan decided that Portuguese life was the life for him. Moments later, the personal terms were agreed, and Spector left for Portugal. A healthy sum of £1,500,000 was recieved for the player.

DAVIS: GET READY LADS

West Ham play their final friendly today, which will be an away trip to AFC Sudbury. Although the team to play couldn't have been any easier, Ben Davis has still warned his squad to get ready for the season. He also told his players that the match at AFC Sudbury would be treated as a Premiership match, whereas he will only be using 3 substitutes throughout the match. This eliminates Davis' halftime swap policy, however the manager has indicated that it is more important that the players are ready for the big game, next week.

The match was to be a 3:00pm kickoff, with Sudbury playing in their traditional yellow kit, meaning West Ham could play in their brand new claret home kit. It was thought that the players would be greeted with a sell-out croud. The reports couldn't have been any more correct, and as the players walked onto the pitch, they were greeted by the cheers of 2,500 fans. Amongst the 2,500 fans, there were around 300 West Ham fans ready to cheer when The Hammers netted a goal.

The match kicked off on schedule, at 3:00pm. Good weather was on hand, and temperatures were rising to atleast 29c. It didn't take long for The Irons to show their superiority, when just 5 minutes in, new signing Darius Vassel ran the length of the AFC Sudbury half, before tapping past the keeper. The match then got nasty, after the ref awarded AFC Sudbury a penalty on the 28th minute. New goalkeeper Frankie Fielding was the choice for this game, and made it known he was worth the cash, after stopping a powerful penalty from Will Barnard. 2 minutes later, Barnard was injured after Scott Parker dived in to a bad timed tackle. Parker was sent off, and the tackle gave Sudbury a chance to equalize from a long range freekick. Midfielder Sam Devonshire lined up the dead ball, and took a violent swing at it. Much to West Ham's surprise, the ball ricocheid off of the cross bar before harmlessly rolling out for a goal kick. Halftime was fast approaching, and West Ham had the perfect opportunity to go 2 up. Young winger Pablo Barrera stormed down the right flank, before powering in an effort from the corner of the box. 2-0. Halftime came, and Ben Davis made just the 3 subs, still sticking with Frankie in goal. 7 minutes into the 2nd period, midfielder Valon Behrami scored a curling shot from the edge of the area. And just 3 minutes after that, provided an assist for Carlton Cole to head in from close range. The score was 4-0, and nothing seemed to be happening for AFC Sudbury. The match drew to a close, and West Ham were ready for the big kickoff in a week's time.

In a post-match interview with Ben Davis; he claimed that his team were ready for the start of the season, and to expect big things happen to West Ham in the future. All we can do is wait and see, but we wish The Hammers luck in their opening Premier League fixture next weekend!
