Miccoli demands change!
'Cosmi doesn't have our respect'

Miccoli shown here at training

In what has been a very stunning turn of events, Palermo captain Fabrizio Miccoli has came out on behalf of his team and admitted that they would like Serse Cosmi to be shown the door from Palermo.

In what was a stunning rant for skyitalia.com, the 30 year old Italian mentioned several times how he had no respect for Cosmi or his coaching staff. He added that they needed someone new and fresh, something to spice the Italian league up.

BBC for many reasons cannot repeat everything Miccoli stated as this is a family website, but we understand he clearly distressed at the current situation. He also mentioned how they needed a new man for the 2010/2011 campaign.

Miccoli finally wrapped up his rant by stating that Cosmi had spoken to young Sao Paulo youngster Lucas illegally and this should be looked into. FIFA and UEFA are both said to be investigating the comments made by Miccoli, although as of yet we don't know if there is any truth.

Only time can now tell if Cosmi will be axed, but if so, is it another case of player power? We shall soon see, and BBC will be the first to let you know.

Palermo complete Lucas deal!
'It was a no brainer'

Lucas whilst playing for Sao Paulo

U.S Citta di Palermo have today confirmed that they have completed a £6.75million deal to take youngster Lucas Rodrigues Moura da Silva, simply known as Lucas, to the Stadio Renzo Barbera. He signs a 5 year deal with the option for a further year. Many are uneasy though following Miccoli accusations this was done illegally.

3 weeks since MIccoli's outburst, player power seems to have won over the Palermo bosses as they were quick to investigate and dismiss Cosmi from his 1st team duties. FIFA and UEFA also found nothing illegal within the transfer dealings for Lucas, nor had Sao Paulo issued a formal complaint. They informed FIFA that Palermo had asked for permission after offering Lucas' release fee in his contract for the Brazilian outfit.

Palermo moved quickly to discipline captain Miccoli and he recieved a 3 month ban which will see him return in October. He has been told that it is on the account of a flase accusation which could have caused harm.

So know we hear you asking, 'Why was Cosmi sacked?'

Well, from what the BBC understands, Cosmi himself had actually been sniffing around Italian talent. Now we don't mean footballers, we mean females. He has said to have had an affair with over 14 different women. This had led his wife to unsurpringly request a divorce whilst Palermo's reputation now lies in a heap on the floor. Who can you possibly get to save a sinking ship whilst not costing the new manager his reputation.

Simple, a rookie manager. Palermo also announced today they had appointed 25 year old Scotsman Craig Todd. The 'youngster' has coaching experiance in Italy following spells with Genoa as a coach and also an under 19's manager role at AC Milan. Considered by many a master tactitian, he'll be looking to quickly prove himself as he dives head first into 1st team duties. No staff changes are to be made, but Todd has announced that he is looking to possibly sign a couple of players in the summer window. When asked who the captain would be next season, he responded 'Miccoli'.

Other news on Palermo are London giants Chelsea have offered £15million for Argentine playmaker Javier Pastore. Palermo and Chelsea have yet to issue a formal statement, but the Italian club are said to be looking closer to £40-50million for their prize possession.

Will deffo followw man. Looking good already, lookin forward to the next update.

Regensburg 1-6 Palermo
Pastore hits 3 in an impressive win

Pastore celebrates his 3rd goal

Palermo fans who travelled to todays game were left delighted as in new manager Craig Todd's first game they netted an astonishing 6 goals, with Pastore claiming 3. Things looked very bright for Palermo, fans already pretty excitied about what is to follow.

It started well when Pastore netted after a through ball from Michele Paolucci found the Javier Pastore who cooly netted it past the keeper. His 2nd was much the same this time it was Uruguay wonderkid Abel Hernandez who played through Pastore. The finish was again impressive and gave Palermo a convincing 2 goal lead.

But Regensburg soon got a goal of there own, and possibly the goal of the game. Brazilian forward Formento picked the ball up around the half way line, dribbled forward before releasing a thunderous strike at Sirgus goal. The result was a 30-35 yard screamer which whistled into the top corner.

But Pastore wasn't finished after the break. After some nice passing between Palermo, Hernandez passed to Nocerino, who in turn fed Pastore. Clearly, 25 yards out, he had one thing on his mind and was determined to produce it. And he did, smashing the ball home from 25 yards out to earn his hat-trick and MOM already.

The 4th goal came for Palermo after a dazzling run down the left flank from FB Federico Ballzaretti. He then slotted in Hernandez on the edge of the box who drilled a low cross across the face of the goal. With poacher like instincts, Michele Paolucci was on hand to convert the tap in, earning the first of his brace in the game.

His 2nd was far more impressive as he gathered the ball from strike partner Hernandez. He looked up and analysed the space infront. He dribbled around 2 defenders before creating a 1-on-1 chance with the keeper. He won the battle of the wits and slotted the ball across the keeper to complete his part in todays game. He was then replaced by Chilian forward Mauricio Pinilla.

The rout was completed when Liverani was drafted into WBL for Ballzaretti. The veteran midfielder showed no sign of a lack of experiance in the position as he took to the wing and smashed in a dangerous cross for his team-mates. Abel Hernandez was first to react and on hand to score a deserved goal.

All in all, Palermo played very well. There sharp, short passes and dangerous crosses caused all sorts of problems for Regensburg. With Arsenal in the next game, they'll be looking to keep up there impressive start to pre-season.

On a transfer front, Lucas will join the Palermo squad on his 18th birthday which is on the 13th of August. He has already stated he is very excited to be working with new manager Craig Todd. He hoped his age would allow him to be more understanding than say a older manager. Palermo have also completed an £8.5million deal in clauses for Khouma Babacar. The 17 year old is a hot prospect in world football and Fiorentina were determined not to let there prospect go. But in the end they were reluctant when Palermo offered as much as they did. Fans were uneased though as they didn't want a player from a rival club. The other transfer completed was a £2.2million deal to take Tomas Hubocan from Zenit to Palermo. The Slovakian had found himself transfer listed at the Russian giants and was keen to move on. With Todd on the market for a ball playing CB, the 24 year old fitted the bill perfectly and will be drafted in beside Ezequiel Munoz and Cesare Bovo.

On the out list, only one transfer worth mentioning. Fabio Liverani has agreed terms with Cesena which will see him move for £1million. Palermo have also agreed to pay £3,400 per week until the the end of the 2010/2011 season when his contract would expire with Palermo. Todd has now stated no further additions will be made and nobody will leave. This came across as a warning to Chelsea who had a £9.5million bid for Pastore rejected.

To end this report though, the goals from Palermo's game against Regensburg. Please, leave a comment or email us at [email protected].
