The telephone rings as im sitting at home in South Carolina. To my suprise it's my agent, Richard Motzkin. He informs me that a very prestigeous club is in need of a full time manager, not just a caretaker and my name has come up during his talk with Mr. Ken Bates of Leeds United A.F.C. I ask Richard how my name came up and better than that why in the **** would I be on Mr. Bates mind for taking over a club like Leeds United with no Managerial experience in the game .....

My background has been in this sport since I was a young boy and I've played professionally and internationally since a young age. I am from the United States of America, the state of South Carolina. I played academy soccer in South Carolina during my high school years as I thought I could further my career if I played with a traveling academy team than my high school team.

At the age of 16 years old I was offered a professional contract with a small team in Ireland, Derry City. They play with the Irish Premier league (Airtricity League) but are based in Northern Ireland. My first year there was better than I could have ever expected. I won the Irish league player of the year, won the league title with my team and finished runner up to Bohemians FC in the Irish FA Cup.

As offers started to pour in for my services I kept my attention in Ireland until the Championship came calling. Southampton FC offered $4.3M for my services and I was on my way to Southampton, Hampshire in the UK. I played the next several years with Southampton in the Championship and in the EPL. My first International cap came against Cuba in Southern California on April, 24th, 2003. I was subbed in around the 70th minute as we were up 2-1 fighting back and forth with a determined Cuban team. In the 83rd minute I was out wide right chasing down a ball as I see Brian McBride and Landon Donovan crashing to the net, I put the ball in with a lot of air under it, McBride goes up for the header, next thing I hear is the croud errupt with passion! McBride just made it 3-1 and we saw out the next 10 minutes to win the match. That was the start of my international career and the first of many caps for my country. I was capped 38 times and scored 16 goals for the US before an injury with Southampton F.C. forced me into hanging up my boots.

Once I was done with rehab on my knee I received a job offer from Jan Poortvliet who was just named the Southampton manager in May, 2008. I remained with Southampton until Dean Wilkins took charge in August, 2010. I have learned a lot about management Jan Poortvliet, Mark Wotte and Alan Pardew during my time with this club. Sigi Schmid from the Seattle Sounders offered me the job of assistant manager in Seattle for the start of the 10/11 MLS season. I did very well as assistant manager in Seattle under Sigi, he's a brilliant football mind. I stayed in Seattle until the end of the 11/12 season when I resigned because of differences in opinion on the squad and staff decisions. Here we are, present day ....

I just signed the contract which is for 2 years and worth $10,500 per week, a massive contract from what I was used to making in Southampton and Seattle and even during my playing days. Richard and I arrive at Leeds Bradford International airport where Peter Lorimer awaits us to drive us to Elland Road for the press conference and unveiling of me as the new manager at Leeds United A.F.C.

We arrive at Elland Road and all I can think is "****, this stadium is massive". We pull into the garage and are escorted into the press room at Elland Road.

Mr. Bates takes to the podium ....

"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for being here with us today for the unveiling of our new manager and a man we think will take this club into the future the best way possible. At this time I would like to introduce Mr.
Jeremiah Walsh as our Leeds United football manager"

Me: "Thank you for the warm welcome folks, I am very excited to be here and can't wait to get to work, I would like to take this time to answer any questions you all may have for me, first question?"

Paul Sulley (Sky Sports): "Hi, Jeremiah and welcome to the UK. What will be your aim as football manager here at Leeds this year and beyond, do you have a vision in mind or will you take it a little at a time?"

Me: "Thanks for the question. I can't afford to get ahead of myself at a club like this. This club missed promotion last year just by a little and I want to work on the small things that could have made the difference in being in the Championship for another year or playing Premier League football. We will work hard on lots of things but pay great attention on the small things that win and lose matches"

John Davies (Yorkshire evening Post)" Jeremiah, welcome to Leeds and congradulations on the job. With you being so young and having virtually no experience will you lean on other coaches to figure out the best tactics and formations for your club to run?"

Me: "No, we will work together as a staff, thats the point in having these guy's around. They are some of the best at what they do and we all have to understand what our roles are within the staff and figure out the best way for us to win the most matches possible. I am only interested in winning, have no time or interest in having an average year."

Chris Clegg (BBC Radio)"How does it feel being so young and the only American manager within the higher ranks of English football, do you think your appointment was more about who you know than what you have done?"

Me: "The truth of the matter is I do know a lot of people who have helped me along my way during my playing and coaching career. I also have no managerial experience but you have to start somewhere and I can't think of a better place to start than with this football club right here in Leeds. There are some great people here who I look forward to working with and having a special partnership with for the next several years"

Me: "That will be all the questions for now, I thank you for the questions and your time this evening, everyone, have a lovely evening"

Hey guy's, thanks for following this story, this is my first story. I actually had a couple of other that I tried but lost the save because of a faulty computer.

To answer your question leedsunited1987 I am running a 4-3-3 and Snodgrass would not have been a good fit. My alternate formation is a 5-3-2, which is weird, I know.

My current starting 11 looks like this ....

A.Keogh R.McCormack B.Paynter

E.Frimpong J.Howson M.Brown

G. Cunningham D. O'Dea A. O'Brien S. Kelly

A. lonergan

The preseason is over and we are alread 6 matches into the season and I will be posting the screenshots of the games played so far this season shortly. I will give you the preseason results below ....

July 16, 2011 15:00
2-0 W vs. Guiseley

July 18, 2011 17:30
5-1 W vs. Hereford

July 24, 2011 15:00
3-2 W @ Chesterfield

Those were our 3 preseason matches and we did well considering I played a lot of reserve players with a couple of first team guys. Please continue to follow this story as the Peacocks are on the rise and on their way back to the EPL!! See you soon lads

For those of you who are following I am back with an update through the first eleven matches with screenshots of those matches. I have most of the screenshots, the ones I am missing were not worth looking at anyway!

MillwallvLeedsPostMatch.png

We went down early but the side responded wonderfully and with a lot of determination. Greg Cunningham, the young lad who is on loan from Man. City was on the money with a goal and an assist. Solid win if I must say so

LeedsvTranmerePostMatch.png

Not really much to say about this match other than we dominated and expected to from the opening whistle. McCormick was wonderful on this day as he scored a brace and assisted on another. They had nothing for him. Good win for us as we build momentum. Good win to advance to the next round of the League Cup!

CoventryvLeedsPostMatch.png

A match we should really be winning but I'll take one point over none and it was because of McCormick's play that we were able to come away with a point. We will take the point and move forward.

LeedsvBristolCityPostMatch.png

The best performance of the early year so far, we ran Bristol City ragged as we were never in danger. M. Brown one of our key players in the midfield had a lovely match with 2 assists and a goal. Back on track with three points.

BuryvLeedsPostMatch.png

Terrible effort by our squad. Lucky to win this match on penalties, we will take this win in the English Cup and move on.

The next match was against Middlesbrough and I do not for the life of me know what happened to this screenshot, can't find it but we ended up losing a hard fought match by the score of 1-0 at Riverside Stadium.

LeedsvBirminghamPostMatch.png

Fantastic result against Birmingham, loan star Emmanuel Frimpong was great on this day as he scored a goal and helped on another. He is proving to be a great addition to this team and is a big part in the success we have had early on this season.

WatfordvLeedsPostMatch.png

Watford are a scrappy team who will play for a full ninety minutes, we were lucky to come away with the three points as we were tested multiple times during the final few minutes. Lots of credit to the Watford boss as I believe he has that team going in the right direction.

LeedsvBurnleyPostMatch.png

Another narrow win as we are not finding the net like I wish we were, we are looking lazy and taking entirely to many shots from way outside, we have a few things we are going to work on in training within the coming weeks.

HullvLeedsPostMatch.png

A very solid win against a Hull City team who came ready to play, we were the better side on this day and the stats show that. I thought this could very well be a tricky match but the lads did well and really earned this win today.

So far that's it for now guys. This being my first story I hope I am doing okay and I would love for you guys to give some constructive critisizm. Also, if you are following please let me know. I don't want to feel like I'm doing this if my story is terrible or nobody is interested. I appreciate all comments and followers!!

Its good so far.

Just a suggestion, why not use the attachment feature on the site to upload your FM screens. I find it saves me time, and then the screens still have a high resolution.

Hey Neil, thanks for the suggestion. I was not aware that I could do that from this screen. Maybe a screenshot for dummies tutorial would help me out! I will give it a shot when I upload the next series of screenshots. Thanks again for the suggestions and for following my first story, I hope it's keeping the readers somewhat intrigued.

Any other readers have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a lot guys!

If you "Go Advanced" you can scroll down and find a Manage Attachments button. Just click that and it should be straight forward from there.

And no problem, I'm new here too. I joined a few days ago.

Hey, thanks mate. I will give it a shot shortly. Have you thought about starting a story Neil? Or do you already have one? Let me know and if so I will follow yours as well. Thanks again!

I would suggest the following:

  • Center allign all images. Its a small thing but it vaslty improves quality.
  • Also consider centre alligning all text. It looks much neater this way.
  • Dont skip lines so often. It looks like your trying to make the updates look larger than they are.
  • Lower your font size in your updates. The op is ok but the rest of your updates the font is too large.
  • When doing a press conference use bolded names to seperate them from the text and dont skip lines between each question.
  • When you transfer players in maybe say a little about the players. Are they going to be first teamers or youth prospects. It may help to take a screenshot of the players who will be important to you.

Thanks for the suggestions Steve, they are greatly appreciated. I will do all of those things from here on out. If you come up with anything else, please let me know, thanks a lot again.

Back with an update guys, sorry it's been a few day's for those of you who do follow this story, been stupid busy with work. The results have been tougher to come by these last couple of weeks since I last posted on where I was at in the Championship season. Here we go.

ReadingvLeedsPostMatch.png

Didn't have the best match at all here, luckily my GK kept us in this match and we escaped with a point, I'll take it. Not much more to say about this match other than that.

NottmForestvLeedsLeeds_PepTalk.png

Won this match against then Championship leaders Nott. Forrest. I was glad we were able to get three points from this match and it was a huge momentum builder to take this win over a very good Forrest squad.

LeedsvCardiffLeeds_PepTalk.png

Very dissapointed with the lads here as I felt we could easily earn three points in this match and ended up with zero. The entire team could have done better and I am not willing to blame any one person, but instead the entire squad from coming up shot in this match.

League Cup
LeedsvBurnleyPostMatch-2.png

This was a great match from McCormick who scored once and assisted on another to put us through to the quarterfinals of the League Cup. We have a date with Chelsea FC and I look very much forward to the challenge.
As of right now we sit in 6th place in the table and are only 4 points back from moving into 3rd. We can easily get right back into the top 3 with a win over West Ham FC in our next match. It will be on the road but im confident and always back my players to do well. Stay tuned from how this next month turns out. Thanks for following and I hope you all are enjoying this Leeds story

Guys, I have lost this story as I bought a new computer. Is there anyway I can have this story deleted? If so please tell me how to get this story deleted. In the meantime im going to start another story, not sure which team yet. Would anybody be interested in a German story or a French story? Please let me know what you guy's think? Thank you
