Due to Cardiff and Swansea's expulsion from English football, the two clubs United to forma better Welsh Premier League, as the current one was at a shocking standard. Due to this Wrexham and Newport County were also removed from the English league system to take part in the new Welsh setup.
The new top division was to be renamed 'The Samsung Welsh Premier League' and have a completely new setup.
