he day was the 1st of July. The first day of the new season 2009-2010.All was at peace in London until the board room at the Emirates Stadium received a letter. It was from Arsene Wenger-
Respected Chairman,
I thought over this for a long time and made my decision.I am dissillusioned at Arsenal following a stint without any title since 2005.I have failed to bring any trophy to the cabinet.I fairly believe that the time is now for me to leave.I am doing this for only the better of the club as a new person in my place would drive it towards success.I leave the club with a heavy heart and with tears in my eyes.
Your's-Arsene Wenger.

Chairman Peter Hill-Wood immediately started an advert for someone to fit in Wenger's shoes attracting the interest of several well-known managers like Lotthar Matthaus and Juande Ramos.

Finally,Arsenal shocked the world by appointing former Indian International,Ajinkya Kale.
Kale joined the club on the 5th of July and vowed to the fans that he will end their cravings for Silverware.

Pre-Season friendlies.
Kale's managerial abilities were tested by the board in the Pre-Season friendlies..

Boreham Wood 0-11 Arsenal.
A total thumping(The list is so long that i didn't mention the scorers :P)

Barnet 0-2 Arsenal(Chamakh,Arshavin)
A win here but it a higher margin was expected.

Westerlo 1-2 Arsenal(Chamakh,Murphy)
Chamakh's pre-season form was notable as Arsenal edged out for a victory.

Roeselare 1-6 Arsenal(Van Persie x2,Eduardo,Arshavin,Vela,Gibbs)
This was the goal margin expected in the earlier matches and Kale was happy over this result.

Charleroi 1-5 Arsenal(Bendtner x2,Walcott,Chamakh,Murphy)
Yet another win for the Gunners.

Antwerp 0-4 Arsenal(Van Persie,Bendtner,Murphy,Sunu)
A nice way to end the pre-season.

Press Conference
What do you have to say on your team's performance in pre-season?
Kale:"It was a tough one,six friendlies all away from the Emirates and Im very pleased to see the team perform like this.I would very much like this form to continue in the Premier League as well as in Europe."

Arsenal 2-0 Bolton(Chamakh,Van Persie)
Chamakh was the man to watch here as the new signing made his presence felt to the pundits with a first minute goal against Bolton Wanderers.

Fiorentina 2-3 Arsenal(Van Persie,Chamkah x2)
The fans had already started to love Marouane Chamakh as his dramatic winner in the 5th minute of stoppage time gave an away leg victory over Fiorentina.

Chelsea 0-2 Arsenal(Chamakh,Arshavin)
Chamakh was on a roll as he scored his 4th consecutive goal in 3 consecutive matches.Manuel Almunia was the man of the match for making many crucial saves and saving 2 penalties,1 from Ballack and 1 from Alex.

Arsenal 1-1 Fiorentina(Van Persie)
A disappointing draw on home soil but Arsenal qualify for the group stages.

Arsenal 1-0 Sunderland(Chamakh)
