The day was the 1st of July. The first day of the new season 2009-2010.All was at peace in London until the board room at the Emirates Stadium received a letter. It was from Arsene Wenger-
Respected Chairman,
I thought over this for a long time and made my decision.I am dissillusioned at Arsenal following a stint without any title since 2005.I have failed to bring any trophy to the cabinet.I fairly believe that the time is now for me to leave.I am doing this for only the better of the club as a new person in my place would drive it towards success.I leave the club with a heavy heart and with tears in my eyes.
Your's-Arsene Wenger.
Chairman Peter Hill-Wood immediately started an advert for someone to fit in Wenger's shoes attracting the interest of several well-known managers like Lotthar Matthaus and Juande Ramos.

Finally,Arsenal shocked the world by signing former Indian International,Ajinkya Kale.
Kale joined the club on the 5th of July and vowed to the fans that he will end their cravings for Silverware.

With Kale stepping up to the managerial spot,in his first ever press conference he was asked about any signings. He said-
"I firmly believe that we have a very good squad pretty much capable of winning the Premiership.I may dip my toes into the water though and sign one or two players. And my priority will be same as Arsene, young players will be signed.

July:The new manager's abilities will be tested by the board in the pre-season and it was a pretty tough one with 7 friendlies to be played.

Aris 0-1 Arsenal(Silvestre)
Arsenal did defeat the Greek side but Kale was disappointed as a larger margin victory was expected.

Panathanaikos 1-4 Arsenal(Van Persie,Eduardo,Denilson x2)
Another pre-season victory for Arsenal this time with a bigger margin with Denilson starring for the Gunners with two goals, one from a corner and another,a 30 yard screamer.

Leyton Orient 0-3 Arsenal (Vela x2,Arshavin)
Another win for a confident Arsenal with two goals from Carlos Vela and a free kick from Russian international Andrey Arshavin.

Barnet 0-3 Arsenal(Gibbs,Walcott,Murphy)
With a much weakened side,Arsenal overcame Barnet 3-0 with the pick of the goals being scored by Rhys Murphy with a volley from a Jack Wilshere cross.

The Emirates Cup:
Arsenal started a 4 team tournament which they called the Emirates Cup.

Semi Final:
Arsenal 2-0 Aberdeen(Bendtner,Diamond-O.G)

Arsenal with a promising win to progress into the Emirates Cup Final

Final:
Arsenal 3-1 Lazio(Van Persie,Fabregas,Vermaelen)

Arsenal cruised their way through the whole match to lift the Emirates Cup.Rafael Van der Vaart impressed for Lazio with a goal from 30 yards out to beat keeper Vito Mannone.

Boreham Wood 0-5 Arsenal(Murphy x2,Ramsey,Wilshere,Merida)
All promising Arsenal youngsters scored in this match which was an easy win for Arsenal as they crushed feeder club Boreham Wood.

Manager Ajinkya Kale stated that he was confident for the upcoming premier league season winning all pre-season friendlies.

Update:
As said earlier Kale did dip his toes into the water is he brought in three new players to the Arsenal Squad.

Transfers Out:
Abou Diaby-Wigan(6.5 million)
Bakary Sagna-Man City(14 million)
Vito Mannone-Leicester(650 K)
Jack Wilshere-Newcastle(Loan)
Fran Merida-Swansea(Loan)

Transfers In:
Darijo Srna(7 million)
With Sagna gone the Gunners needed a good right back to fill in.Kale looked no further than Shakhtar Donetsk RB Darijo Srna.

Simon Vukcevic(4.3 million)
A versatile attacking midfielder who can either attack through the centre or from the left wing.Much of a bargain as he would play a lot of games in future.

Marouane Chamakh(12.25 million)
Kale saw Chamakh as an ideal replacement for Man City bound Emmanuel Adebayor as he possessed ideal abilities for the target man role

Marco Verratti(220 k)
Keko(1 pound)
Jonathan{Regen GK}(275 k)
Mark Beevers(1.5 million)

The Arsenal board was pretty impressed with the signings made by the new manager and wished the team luck for the upcoming season.

My scout said that Beevers will become a leading Premier Division Centre Mid so i signed him.He would provide backup for Ramsey and Fabregas in future i believe.

With the pre-season over and August approaching, the team geared up for the Premier League Season.

Kale stated that he was a bit nervous going into his first league game as manager of Arsenal.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-2 Arsenal(Chamakh,Van Persie)
A good debut for Chamakh as he made an immediate impact scoring in just the 6th minute from an Andrey Arshavin corner.

Champions League Qualifiers 1st Leg
Arsenal 2-1 Stuttgart(Eduardo,Walcott Cacau)
With Robin Van Persie ruled out for 3 weeks,Eduardo stepped up to the plate and scored in Arsenal's win over VfB Stuttgart.

Arsenal 3-0 Sunderland(Chamakh x2,Senderos)
Chamakh was impressing his new manager with 2 goals in Arsenal's victory against Sunderland.

Champions League Qualifiers 2nd Leg
Stuttgart 0-0 Arsenal
A bore draw with none of the sides managing to score as Arsenal went through to the group stage on a 2-1 aggregate.

Arsenal 3-0 West Ham(Arshavin,Sagna,Eduardo)
Another confident victory for the gunners as they achieved top spot at the end of August.

Player of the month:
No doubt about it.It had to be none other than Marouane Chamakh scoring 3 goals in 2 matches played for the Gunners.
