I'm sure there's somebody out there who can give me an answer to this, and blow the discussion out of the water but..........

How much can you read into the player descriptions, with regards to their age/development status?

eg: Young midfielder = just a youngster, nothing special.
Promising winger = will be a good player, if raised correctly
Wonderkid = A young player who is already good enough to be a first team regular
''Any other description that isn't age-related'' = a player who has slowed down in their development and should be seen as a 'finished product'

I would say that in relation to PA it would be like this...

1) Young mid/defender/winger/striker/keeper = (-6 to -7)
2) Promising mid/defender/winger/striker/keeper = (-7 to -8)
3) Wonderkid = (-8 to -10)

What about when it stops describing them in terms of age?

ie: goes from 'promising' to 'strong' (eg)

Other than wonderkid/ world class, I pay no attention to the descriptions personally.

well then that means that they have developed into the type of players their stats suggest :)

1) Flamboyant Winger - high flair and creativity stats
2) Explosive Fullback/Winger - high speed and acceleration stats
3) Tireless Defensive Mid - high stamina, work rate, fitness, teamwork stats

etc etc etc....

but Raikan, are they still potential stars, or is a good way of knowing that they are reaching or have reached their potential?

sorry to keep going on

If they have 15+ on everything you need them for, they're a star IMO, you don't need a good description

descriptions dont really mean anything.... as I said, it just describes the player by the highest stats he has...

stats talk and bullshit walks mate :) if the player has the stats you are looking for then get him, regardless of what he is described as :) the only thing about descriptions you need to take into account (really) is when they are youngsters... you can determine from that (as I posted above) how good they might become :)
