Today Carson Yeung has announced that Alex McLeish has resigned from the Birmingham City job due to personal reasons and he said in an interview with sky sports that he will not be discussing in which the reasons in which he resigned.
The main shock has been the appointment of Bill Smith a rookie manager which is Smith's first professional job. In a press coference Smith has said that
'I am delighted to be here at such a big club. With the amazing facilities the club pocesses I will make the club a force to be reckoned with in the premier league'.

With a reported £27 million to spend, Smith is aiming for a mid-table finish. One of the first things Smith has done was to show Keith Fahey the door with his value at £3 million Smith thought it was the right decision to let Fahey go to West Ham for 3 mill also Gary O'Connor was sold to Bolton for £2.5 million.
With Smith reporting that he wanted to strenthen the squad he started to look for possible transfer targets. In total Smith signed 6 quality first team players, Danny Wilson was the first of his signings for £4 million the others were Ivelin Popov (£1.2m), Vincent Enyeama (450k), Nicolas Otamendi (£4.5m), Asomoah Gyan (£10m), Sejad Salihovic (£8m).
With the quality added to the squad Smith started with the pre season friendlys. With the blues winning 3 out of thier 4 friendlys, (a loss to QPR after Rodger Johnson was shown a straight red) it looked to be a promosing season for the Blues ....
