Today Carson Yeung has announced that Alex McLeish has resigned from the Birmingham City job due to personal reasons and he said in an interview with sky sports that he will not be discussing in which the reasons in which he resigned.

The main shock has been the appointment of Bill Smith a rookie manager which is Smith's first professional job. In a press coference Smith has said that

'I am delighted to be here at such a big club. With the amazing facilities the club pocesses I will make the club a force to be reckoned with in the premier league'.

With a reported £27 million to spend, Smith is aiming for a mid-table finish. One of the first things Smith has done was to show Keith Fahey the door with his value at £3 million Smith thought it was the right decision to let Fahey go to West Ham for 3 mill also Gary O'Connor was sold to Bolton for £2.5 million.

With Smith reporting that he wanted to strenthen the squad he started to look for possible transfer targets. In total Smith signed 6 quality first team players, Danny Wilson was the first of his signings for £4 million the others were Ivelin Popov (£1.2m), Vincent Enyeama (450k), Nicolas Otamendi (£4.5m), Asomoah Gyan (£10m), Sejad Salihovic (£8m).

With the quality added to the squad Smith started with the pre season friendlys. With the blues winning 3 out of thier 4 friendlys, (a loss to QPR after Rodger Johnson was shown a straight red) it looked to be a promosing season for the Blues ....

Try and get Martin Palermo he's getting on but still manages to grab a few goals.
Diego Buonanotte has been great in my Motherwell story as well go for him if you have enough funds

Results :

(Away) Fulham 0 Blues 1 (Gyan)

A great start to the season with Gyan showing his quality with a goal on his debut. 3 points on the board.

(Home) Blues 5 Porstmouth 1 (Salihovic,Jerome,Gyan,Johnson 2)

Smith was delighted with this result ' we have shown we have real quality in this match'

(Away) Sunderland 2 Blues 3 ( Jerome 2, Ferguson)

We were lucky to win this match with sunderland missing a few sitters but Jerome shined in this match.

(Away) Nottm Forest 2 Blues 5 ( Popov,Jerome,Phillips 2,Gyan)

Took extra time to win this one which is worrying but scoring 3 goals in extra time is quitye good.

(Home) Blues 2 Wolves 1 (Salihovic, Benitez)

Good performance against close rivals late goal from Benitez to win it.

Review

Brilliant start to the season for the Blues top of the table but then again we haven't had a very good team yet so it can all change. Some bad injuries to some key players in the squad.

Player of the month: Ivelin Popov just because he won it in the premier league. Some classy performances and some top assists.

cheers guys appreiciate the comments

Results :

(Away) Everton 3 Blues 3 (Gyan, Ferguson, Salihovic)

Happy in the way that we are scoring freely but i am worried about the amount of goals we let in.

(Home) Blues 3 Arsenal 1 (Otamendi, Gyan 2)

Absolutely amazing result beating one of the top four in the first season is pretty good we even got Salihovic sent off in the 57th minute.

(Home) Blues 1 Liverpool 2 (Tanio) League Cup

First loss at least it's not in the league.

(Away) Blackburn 1 Blues 1 (Gyan)

Ok result against decent opposition.

Still unbeaten in the league shame about the league cup but it doesn't bother me to much.

Player of the month: Asomoah Gyan he basically won us the arsenal game we one of the best goals i've ever seen of football manager and plus he scored alot of goals.

Results:

(Home) Blues 2 Wigan 2 (Gyan, OG)

Bad result I really expected to win this one.

(Home) Blues 0 Chelsea 1

First loss in the premier league and the first game i've failed to score in.

(Home) Blues 3 West Ham 1 (Popov, Salihovic, Jerome)

Great come back from the loss to Chelsea and we scored some good goals.

(Away) Man United 7 Blues 2 (Gyan, Salihovic)

Absolutely shocking defending we deserved to get thrashed I think this proves that I need to strenthen the defence in January.

Not a good month lost our first game but then lost another after that good result against west ham but that's it.

Player of the month: None of them deserve it really but if I had to give it to someone it would be Gyan.
