Times are changing in Rome
News today flows out of the Italian capital that there is a change in the helm of AS Roma. Following the sudden departure of coach Claudio Ranieri Roma have took 3 weeks to try and find the right man to place in charge of there team. Juande Ramos was interviewed but was deemed 'Not correct'. The Roma board though came across rookie coach Antonio Dí Lorenzo. A 30-year old Italian who has no previous managing experiance. A huge risk it is viewed as. Di Lorenzo though was apppointed as manager on a 2-year deal. On appointment he had this to say ;
Antonio Di Lorenzo said:As I sit here today as new manager of Roma I am very proud. I understand many people's views that maybe that I'm not the right man for the job. I hope though to prove you wrong and get you on board. This side has clear potential, everyone in Italy is aware of this. With the right tatics and correct signings I think I can mount a challenge this season. I would like to express my extreme gratitude towards the Chairman for this oppourtunity.

Totti remains skipper
Di Lorenzo has informed fans, pundits and news reporters that he will not strip the captaincy from Francesco Totti, and infact plans to build his team around him. Totti, 33, has never played for another club other than Roma. Adored by the fans Di Lorenzo believes that this could be Totti's best season to date and could even match his form in the 2006/2007 season in which he netted 26 goals. Di Lorenzo also commented that he would be relying heavily on Totti in his bid the win Serie A for the first time since 2001 for Roma.
3 new players arrive at the Olimpico
Di Lorenzo today had this say about the arrival of 3 new players ;
Antonio Di Lorenzo said:I am delighted to announce the arrival of Angel Di Maria from Benfica, Antonio Di Natale from Udinese and Juliano Belletti on a free transfer. These players I believe have the calibure to bring this club to a higher level than we already play at. Angel will be played as a centre midfielder in replacement to David Pizarro who has departed for Werder Breman. We have also parted company with Roderigo Taddei who has left for Birmingham City for a fee of around £8million. David left for £8.5million. I hope these signings will pay off and I wish Roderigo and David all the best on future success.
