Hey

I have now played my first season with Spurs, and when you look at it, it actually went quite well. I got to the semis in the League Cup, finished 4th in the league, 5 points behind 1st placed Man U.

Things is, I believe I could have won the league, if only I had a tactic that works against the "big four", Liverpool, Man U., Chelsea and Arsenal away from home. I gained 0 points and conceded 12 goals while only scoring 1. And that is strange because our goal tally total was at 68 for the season.

My questions therefore is, how should I approach these big away games? I know that I can't win all of these games, but it simply seems to easy for these big teams to beat me. They have around 20 shots a match, while I have 3 or 4. My players looks like sunday league players, and it doesn't show at all that we are a top team. How can I minimum the opponents chances while creating dangerous situations my self?

Cheers
Confused Spurs manager

I played as Spurs as well with 4-3-3 last season and 4-1-3-2 this season.Last season I'm doing decent against the top 4 manage to beat Arsenal 5-2 ,United 2-0,Chelsea 1-0 and even City 4-1 only lose to Liverpool 3-1 because of the g*y Torres while in my current season manage to beat Arsenal 2-0. Maybe u could post your tactic and players mate so we could give more in-depth help

Right now I'm playing a 4-2-3-1 which works well both home and away, and somehow I feel it is small adjustment I need to make in order to match the other topsides.

Formation:
Gomes

Corluka - Muniesa - Kaboul - Coentrao

Modric - Huddlestone

Lennon - van der Vaart - Bale

Defoe

Huddlestone is playing the defensive role, sweeping the floor for the creative players. Van der Vaart is playing with a lot of creative freedom, and does very well except the games I am talking about. Basicly what I am saying is that the team does very well, but I need that tactical edge to compete for the premiership title.

My team settings are generally - balanced - more expressive - short passing - press more

At home: Control or attacking
Away (good sides): Counter or control

Have a look at the tactic page and download my tottenham tactic , i find i normally beat the big four at home and some times get results away from home against them, its called spurs swap 4-4-2

I recentrly played a game with Spurs and went quite well...First season won the Premier League and the Carling Cup and lost to Arsenal on the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League. They have defense issues but i bought Srna, Nani (these 2 in January as they were transfer listed), Marchisio and Badelj (beggining of season) and specially Marchisio is one brutal midfielder!!!

I'd assume you play your winger as a crossing type right??If so then I recommend you to play Pav or Crouch as Defoe is sucks at heading. But if you wanna use Defoe then set the winger to inside forward so they could spray through balls to Defoe..
And Modric is better as an AMC rather than a MC and Huddlestone is not good at defending, you'd better use Sandro as Anchorman and Huddlestone as a Deep playmaker although I rarely play him.
