Tottenham Tactics

Hello, does anybody know any good tactics to use for Tottenham? If I do 4-4-2 with Defoe as Advanced Forward and Crouch as Deep-Lying Forward, Defoe barely ever scores - does anybody know how to get around that, and to get the best out of Defoe?

Maybe use him as a poacher? Or as an advanced forward and target man 'run on to the ball'
