Training - General & Match Prep

I wanted to open up a thread to gauge peoples experience of the difference (both good and bad) that changing the above has on their season and ultimately their teams success. After 20 seasons I am noticing that if I keep training the same all season I have a massive dip in form in Jan/Feb and start losing games that I shouldn't be losing. I've experimented a little with this and have had some success, but wanted to hear others thoughts on it. My training plan (once tactics are fluid) is to have general training on balanced at average intensity, then match training set to defensive positioning (30% - lowest setting). This generally gets good results until the xmas period, then I change to teamwork for match prep until mid Feb, and then switch back to def positioning.
