Hi Guys,

I've just got promoted in my first season to La Liga with Ponferradina. I checked my bank balance and the end of the season and it showed I was a 150k in the black. It was a huge surprise that at the start of my second season to see that I have been given 6 million pounds to spend to attempt to avoid relegation!! I checked my balance again to see that I'm only 650k in the black.
If I spend my transfer budget does this mean I'm going to go millions in debt? And also why have the board given me so much when I don't have a huge balance in the bank?

Please help and let me know, as not going to spend till I know I won't jeopardise my finances.

Thanks

If you spend 1M then, since you have 600k in the "bank", you will have your finances decreasing to -400k (in red).

So, if i were you i wouldn't spend it.

U can also sell players :)

Yeah I thought that would be the case!! Hmm dunno what to do now, do I risk it and strengthen which is needed and hope I clear the debt quickly or do I struggle and get relegated??

Remember if you stay up you will get a lot of money coming in to the club I am pretty sure. Just make your priority staying up so spend what you need since you will probably earn the money back at the end of the season plus more.

what they would have done is taken a loan out for the 6m which you might have to start paying back in smaller portions every month... which helps spread out your initial lump sum! what you could do is buy over 48 months so that you are also only paying back smaller portions every month and now with promotion you will get more fans in the gates and make more on match days, TV revenue as well when you play vs Real, Barca etc...

also put all your excess transfer budget into your wage budget as this generates interest for you :)

Totally agree with Raikan, if you are looking for players you can always loan with a view to buy or just loan. If you stay up and the loans
have been a success then buy them, (budget allowing). Guys like Thiago(Barca), Koke(Athletico) and even Sergio Canales can be loaned out if that route interests you. Selling players is always a good option but usually only star players from promoted teams generate interest, so it might not be an option as they're the guys who got you there. But loans and free transfers are usually the easiest way to get the players that can help you stay up, thus getting you more money per season..

Cheers guys, I only have a capacity of 8,500 at present and that cost 1.8million to do, I know the board took a loan out for that, but no loan for the 6 million they have given me for transfers, which I thought was strange!! Maybe the board think I could get the money back through a successful season and players being sold!

Like the idea of paying for transfers over a certain period, always forget that option.

Am tempted just to go for it, strengthen squad and try and stay up, especially as Ponferradina have never been in La Liga in their history.

Cheers guys.

Yeah am looking at loans, may just buy key players that i definately need e.g goalkeeper and do the transfer over a couple of years, then look at loans for the other positions i need to improve.

Thanks mate.

I wouldn't mind about the 6m - at the end of the season you will get prize money for your resulting position and unless there's something terribly different in Spain than it is in Germany, the 6m won't be anything to bother you by then...
