in the transfer status screen and in transfer instruction it was set to 'not set'. when i got a mail about him having talks and such i switched it to reject offers less than 4k. looks like the damage has been done already. says he's going of in 2-3months timew to new team for nothing.

I wanted to off load him but i wanted money for him.

any tips?

If a player is in his last year, he can agree a transfer to a different team during the year and have it take place as soon as his contract finishes. Only way you can prevent him from leaving is offering a new contract and hope he chooses your team over the other.

However, seems from your story that he's already agreed to terms with the other team, so there's nothing you can do.

If you want to make money on players, sell them before their contract is close to expiration.

there was 2-3months left. the problem i think i experienced was having an option on 'not set' when i should have had it on 'reject offer less than 4k'. u think i would have been in the money if this was selected. i would of got cash offers?

since the Bosman ruling (a Euro court decision several years ago) players over 24 have been able to move between clubs for free once their contract expires. They can begin to talk to other clubs at any time during the last 6 months of their contracts and agree to a move if they choose to,

Players under 24 can move between clubs in different countries for free but if they are moving to a club in the same country compensation will be paid by the 'buying' club.

The only way to avoid losing a player for free is to sell them while they have 1 year or more on their contract or offer them a new deal before the 6month mark.

I guess from your story that you have let his deal run out, or come close to running out, and he has gone elsewhere for a new one. Not a lot you can do about it, the buying club would not have made any cash offer for him no matter what your settings in his transfer status screen and would still have got him for nothing.

Put it down to experience and make sure you don't let anybody else leave the same way (unless you don't want a fee for them ;) )

can i get cash for them if i transfer list them between 6-12 months towards end of there contrect. as u said got to be more than 1year. is between 12mnths-6mnths ok still to get cash for them?
