Tutoring problem

I've signed Joaqu?n Lavirrey, an argentine striker, specially to tutor a promising newgen I have. However, when I try to make him tutor the boy, the option does not appear. Lavirrey can tutor some other players, but not the one I want. Could someone help me to understand why is this happening?
Comparison:
Lavirrey - Striker, 30 years old, 20 determination, professional personality, national reputaion, rotation team status
Newgen - Striker, 16 years old, 14 determination, fairly professional personality, national reputaion, hot prospect team status

You can try those two options...Try talk with both of them...tutor and tutee every day...And check every day at training until the right one appears...If there is a good match it will appear...Also go read the guide to football manager 2014 section SQUAD paragraph PLAYER TUTORING...There must be cerain terms that must be met in order for one to be a legitimate tutor...If one of the terms is not met you can't match them...So go and check...

He must be over a certain age, and not under ppm trains, there are a few other reasons, they must match to be compatible.

The only term that might be off is reputation, since I don't know exactly how high their reputations is. They are both national, but it seems the value might vary below what appears at the stats screen. Is there any way of finding out what's the true reputation of my players? And is there any fast way of increasing or decreasing it?

You can find the true reputation of the player if you use Genie Scout when it is out, and possibly in FMRTE and/or maybe the in game editor that SI sells(Not 100% sure, haven't used either). That is probably your problem, though.
