I always hear people mention tutoring younger players is really key, which one do you choose, mentor him off the pitch OR on the pitch?? and how do you know who to use as a tutor??
 
off the pitch it improves there mental stats an its always good to use professional driven loyal ambitious ect ect

Tutoring is fundamental to improving a players personality. The better his personality, the better he'll respond to training, going a goal down, avoiding complacency ect. You could have all the technical and physical skills to be a world class player, but if their mind is all over the place, you've just got yourself the next Mario Balotelli when you could have had the next Francesco Totti.

As for which option to chose when tutoring. The off the pitch option will ONLY increase mental stats. The on the pitch will increase mental stats at the same rate as the other, but ALSO teach the youngster PPM the tutor has.
