I have been working on my own version of a legends database for quite some time now and thought I would tell you guys about it and its progress.
The idea behind it is to ensure each club has a squad of 40 of its greatest players drawn from all time periods including current players and that each player is placed in the team he either made most impact or had most appearences. Each player is given an age depending on the decade he first played roughly and I have very carefully researched each player before placing him into the database.
So far I have completed the 40 man squads for both Manchester United and Liverpool and most other big teams in England have so far 5 to 10 players completed.
I am currently putting in 200-300 greatest non uk players into the database and am at about the 100 mark. I have drawn these players from the various 100 greatest players lists. Already clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Ajax and Bayern Munich have a frightening amount of talent in their squads.
After this I am going back to the English clubs and next completing all time squads for Arsenal, West Ham, Tottenham, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.
I have also put into the database the most famous managers for the clubs, the manager that is considered the greatest the club had.
Many South American players that never played in Europe for example Pele or Garrincha have been played in their South American club they played the most at and the reputation of all these big South American clubs will be lowered as the aim is for these players to be picked up by the European clubs so they can play in the champions league.
I will update next with a list of the players in both the Liverpool and Manchester United squads and then update every time I put 50 new players into the database or complete a clubs all time squad.
If you want anymore info on the database just ask.
