Jones takes charge at Hanworth Villa

Hanworth Villa are said to be delighted to announce the capture of new manager Gareth Jones.

Jones, 25, born just a few miles down the road in Kingston on Thames, is bound to be looking forward to this new challenge.

'It's a tremendous opportunity for me, I moved to Hanworth when I was 6 and have lived there since, my house is literally a stones throw from Rectory meadow, I can see it from my bedroom window!'

Jones will be looking to invest in the club, with the only senior player on the books at the meadow, 26yr old keeper Terry Buss, attracting the interest from several clubs.

'Terry's a great player and I'm going to do my very best to keep him at the club, he's a local lad like myself and lives only a few streets away. I'm 100% he'll stay with us here.
But in terms of other players, I'm going to have to bring in some fresh faces. The board, and Danny Bright in particular, are very supportive in this and have given me all the resources necessary to bring the required talent to the club'

Hanworth Villa were formed in 1976 and currently play their home games in the Combined counties premier League at Rectory meadow, also known affectionately by locals as The Ranch
Currently at 12/1 to gain promotion Jones should be gearing up for a tough season ahead.

Jones believes in youth

New Hanworth Villa boss Gareth Jones has shown he is clearly an advocate for youth development with his first foray into the transfer market.
Jones completed the signings of 16 year old left back, Anthony Craggs and 15 year old Winger Barry Flynn.
'Both Tony and Barry are very exciting prospects for the club and I firmly believe they'll be great for our club.

Jones also wrapped up the contract of Villans under 21s centre back, 18 year old Matt Valentine.
'Matt has impressed me alot during training and it made perfect sense to me to get him signed and pledging his future to the club'

Buss commits future to Villa
Hanworth Villa today announced that Terry Buss has infact signed a new deal with the club, tieing him to Rectory meadow for a year with a contract reportedly worth ?2000.
'There was never any doubt that I'd sign' The 26 year old told us 'Hanworth Villa is a club that is very close to my heart, and the fact that we have another local lad in charge, in the form of Gareth Jones, was a big factor in my decision. I have a lot of admiration for Gareth and look forward to working alongside him for a long time to come'

More signings for the Villans

Jones has double dipped into the transfer market again, exciting fans with the signings of 16 year old midfielder Darryl Bagwell from Dorchester and 17 year old right back Blaize Kerr from Quorn.
When asked about his focus on youth Jones had this to say.
'I'm signing players who I firmly believe will be outstanding for the club, it doesn't matter whether they are 16, 26, or 46 years of age, if I feel they can perform well for us then I will do my upmost to make them a villa player, its that simple'
Hanworth have so far signed four players all of who are under the age of 18

Jones spotted at Faraday Road
Gareth Jones was today spotted leaving Faraday road, home of the England trialists day. When asked if he had spotted anyone he fancied to join the villans, Jones remained coy.
'There was some fantastic talent on show today, but it's too soon to say if we'll be making a move for anyone'

Rocky pre-season for the Villans

A turbulent pre-season for Hanworth Villa left the villans with 5 losses, 1 draw and 1 win in 7 games.
'Pre-season for me wasn't about results, it was about getting an idea of my first eleven and working out areas I need to build upon. Yes we would have liked a bit more momentum going into the league campaign but I think, ultimately we did well'

Jones has so far made seven signings in his short term as manager, and is reportedly looking to bring in a few more faces before the seasons out.

Summary of Jones signings so far:
16 year old left back Anthony Craggs - Free agent
15 year old winger Barry Flynn - Free agent

English Combined Counties Premier Division 03/08/13
Hartley Wintney 1 - 1 Hanworth Villa
Ben charles (39) Oliver Khan (72)
Robert Parrot booked (53) Anthony Craggs booked (83)

A scoreline that does little to give justice to the game actually played, with Hartley edging the possesion and both teams firing off 16 shots at goal, a goalkeeping masterclass was put on today.
'Obviously Terry played well today, managing to keep alot out the back of the net, and the one that did slip past was a tremendous effort from Ben Charles.
Oliver Khan looked in good form for us today, capping the performance with a goal.
I think we did well to achieve the draw today, missing Brent and Blaize due to injury, but both players are looking good with there fitness and should hopefully be back with us soon'

English Combined Counties Premier Division 6/8/13
Hanworth Villa 0-1 Alton
Walsh (4)
Manchester booked (9) Haddrell booked (3)
Rickert booked (55)
Fraser booked (59)
A less from confident performance from the villans in a game they'll want to put behind them quickly.
'Awful, absolutely awful, once we conceded so early on in the game we just didnt look comfortable and if I'm honest, we were lucky not to concede any more.'

Villans wrap up new signing
Hanworth Villa have completed the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th signings of the season, bringing in 26 year old centre back Mark Shadrack on a free from Diss aswell as 29 year old Keeper Luke Blackmore from Flackwell Heath, also on a free and free agent 34 year old left back Steve Norman. Jones also brought in midfield duo 35 year old James Evans and 38 year old Aaron Skelton
Jones seems to be operating a very defensively minded team, but one wonders how he can hope to acheive promotion without scoring goals?
'Yes, we've focused mainly on defense with our transfers so far, but we are far from finished yet and still have targets we hope to bring in soon'

English FA Cup First Preliminary Round 10/8/13
RC Warwick 1 - 2 Hanworth Villa
Hemmings (77) Rickert (54)
Evans (Pen 88)
A much tidier performance from the villans and a well earned victory over a team that many considered the favourites.
'Yeah we looked nice out there today, the team seems to be geling quite nicely. I think there are still maybe one or two areas we can strengthen but all in all I'm happy after todays performance'

Another signing for Jones
Jones today pulled off what can be considered by many as a bit of a coup for the villans by announcing the signing of former Millwall man Charley Hearn. The 29 year old midfielder had been out of contract and is pleased to be back in the game.

English Combined Counties Premier Division 17/8/13
Frimley Green 2 - 4 Hanworth Villa
Betteridge (5,41) Manchester (26) Norman (47) Skelton (60) Evans (83) Moss injured (72)
Ayoola booked (80)

A tremendous effort from the villans to come back from a 2-1 defecit, with some good performances from many of your new signings, but the question begs, how are you going to cope with the loss of Oliver, your only real choice up front?
'Oliver's injury isnt as bad as we first thought, and he shouldn't be out for too long, but in any case James Evans proved he can perform in front of goal this afternoon'

FA cup second preliminary round 24/8/13
Hanworth Villa 4 - 0 Highmoor Ibis
Flynn(3) Cyrus booked (11)
Moss (23) Sanders booked (61)
Sanders (OG 42) Riddell injured (69)
Evans (73)
A defensive masterclass on show from Hanworth today, how do you rate your teams performance?
'Words can't describe how pleased I am with them today, both at the back and up front, Oliver in particular stood out for me, providing the assist for the first and scoring the second, especially after taking that knock last week, but he's trained hard to make sure he was fit for today and proved why he's on the books'

English combined counties premier division 28/8/13
Westfield 0 - 2 Hanworth Villa

Thompson booked (52) Moss (32, 38)
--------------------------Bagwell booked (84)
You looked good offensively out there today, are you happy with the way your teams geled together?
'Absolutely, the team are playing and training well together, I firmly believe you havent seen the best of us yet, and theres loads more to come from us'

Hanworth Villa are currently sitting in 6th position with 7 points from the first 4 games.

English combined counties premier division 31/8/13
Hanworth Villa 2 - 2 Epsom & Ewell
Evans (11) Jones (14)
Flynn (51) Rushton (70)
----------------------Williams sent off (90)

You experimented with a different formation to your usual 4-3-3 in the first half today, how do you feel it went and why did you revert back to normal after half time?
'I feel it went well, playing Evans behind Moss is definitely something we'll be looking at again, but it left us open at the back which led to their equaliser. It's something we're going to work on in training and go from there'

English combined counties premier division
Hanworth Villa 1 - 2 Wembley

Flynn (9) Swetnam (17) Cole (54)
Despite Barry Flynn opening the scoring after just 9 minutes, you never really got going today, how do you rate your teams performance?
'I think we little better than average today, especially at the back, like you say we couldn't get going and my team know exactly how I feel'

Fa cup third preliminary round 7/9/13
Northwich 3 - 2 Hanworth Villa
Taylor (44, 64, 82) Flynn (56) Moss (85)
Leadbetter booked (67) Manchester booked (76)
Holt booked (68) Bagwell injured (84)
Wisdom booked
(83)
A suprisingly even display in what many expected to be a one sided display game, you must be proud of your boys after todays match?
'Yeah, I think we were very unlucky out there today, we had some nice chances and were unlucky not to go ahead a few times. Obviously we were missing Charley Hearn from injury, and he's proved very influential from midfield for us so far, but you know nobody expected us to perform against Northwich and we proved that we can mix it up with the bigger teams, and now we can direct our focus elsewhere'

FA Vase second round 10/9/13
Hanworth Villa 0 - 3 Long Eaton
--------------------- Scaife (8, 75), Putman (19)
Not the best performance from your lads today in a game you were firm favourites for
'No, it wasn't the best game but we were missing a couple of key players in the form of Hearn and Bagwell, and we have a had lot of congestion with fixtures recently. In all honesty I'm a little relieved we've left the competition, meaning my players can rest properly'
