Guys, every year I create a similar thread to warn people that using "Instant Result" isn't the same as you play in "normal" way because your assistant manager might tweak your tactic and that might have unpredictable consequences.
You can find out that your tactic was tweaked when you used "Instant Result" for some match if you got to the fixtures and watch that match.
There are two major ways to see that your tactic was tweaked:
1) Watch how your players behave during the match and find out if there's any difference in their behavior compare to how they should behave according to their Roles/Duties/PIs/TI. Of course, for an average FM player it isn't that simple task because you need to have a huge experience in ME to find any difference.
2) Some roles and some duties might be revealed during set pieces because they always take positions during set pieces according their role and duty.
I want to say that I'm a big fun of "Instant Result" thing and I really like it because it's very fun to play with it and it allows you to play many seasons at very short period of time so every year I hope that finally I can play with "Instant Result" only and this year wasn't exclusion but recently my hopes were broken because I found out that this year FM wasn't any different than any previous year FM when it comes to using "Instant Result" and your assistant manager might tweak your tactic again when you use "Instant Result".
Here's a story how I found it this year. I very regret that I didn't check it long time ago. I don't know something made me think that this year "Instant Result" finally must work without changing your tactic and I was so sure about that I didn't even try to check earlier.
Ok, here's how I found it, I decided to play my 2nd season in EPL with Bristol City using only "Instant Result" and after 17 matches my result were loking like this:
To say honestly, I was shoked and just couldn't believe in such poor results because I had a quite strong team already and I started to find out what the **** was going on and went to the fixtures to watch how the matches were played and I immediately noticed that my ML didn't play as Wide Midfielder(Attack) and his role was changed to Wide Playmaker and in order to be 100% sure about that I checked his position during set pieces and by that I got an additional confirmation that his role/duty, definitely, wasn't Wide Midfielder(Attack). As you can see at the screenshot the players that played at MR position had Wide Midfielder(Attack) role/duty but the player that played at ML position had a different role, probably, it was Wide Playmaker, as I said I also watched how they played during the match and I clearly saw that ML didn't play like Wide Midfielder(Attack):
So this year FM hasn't changed and your assistant manager still might tweak the roles/duities in your tactic if he doesn’t happy about them when you use "Instant Result".
I used Vincenzo Grifo as ML and as you can see he had a very low rating for "Wide Midfielder" and a very high rating for "Wide Playmaker" so my assistant manager always was changing his role to Wide Playmaker instead of Wide Midfielder when I used "Instant Result" and you can see what consequences it had :
I didn't check all other positions in the tactic because what I saw was enough already to stop trust to "Instant Result". As I said there's nothing new in my finding because "Instant Result" worked that way in the previous FM versions but I hoped that this year FM was free of it.
Heh, now just think that many people here test tactic by using "Instant Result" and that's why we see that some people say that some tactic works for them and other people say that this doesn’t work becasue you might have totally difference experience with the same tactic when you play with Instant Result and when you normally play matches.
P.S. Ehhh... Soon, I'll try to create a good tactic for "Instant Result", I've got some ideas how to do that probably this tactic will be less efficient than SUNFIRE V1 when you play matches in normal way but I hope it'll be showing close performance.
