After my last game crashed :( I decided against starting with Huddersfield again and decided to look elsewhere for a new challenge. After looking through various leagues i decided that my future still lay in English football in the the Coca Cola Championship. Today I have been appointed as the new Manager of Watford FC and will take over from Malky Mackay with immediate effect.

The Managers View On The Season Ahead

I firmly believe that we have a squad here that has a lot of quality and with a few new faces a firmly believe that we can be challenging at the top half of the table this season. My overall long term goal is for Watford FC to become and established Premier League club under my guidance. Although the club has slight financial problems I have been told that there are people thriving to ensure that this changes and all the books are balanced. In the pre season months i have assigned all the player to the TUGs training regime and I will hope to bring in a couple of fresh faces both on the coaching front and the players front in a bid to freshen things up a bit. I would like to ask the Watford fans for their support and hope that I can deliver successful times here at Vicarage Road. Wish Me Luck and any advice would be welcome ^^)

Transfer Update

After an assessing the entire squad with my assistant we identified the areas which we felt we where short in quality and I feel that we have persuaded the right sort of quality needed to improve the squad. To date we have signed four players with none of the current squad leaving. Below are the players we have manged to recruit:

Fabrice Muamba (on loan) I managed to persuaded Owen Coyle to let the highly rated young midfielder join us on a season long loan. I fully expect the defensive midfielder to break into my team straight away and I am hoping he can produce some high class performances.

Christian Vieri (free) I have snapped up experienced Italian striker Christian Vieri on a free transfer after a successful trail period. Vieri has scored 195 goals in 364 games for 14 different clubs and has 43 Italy caps scoring 23 international goals. I hope Vieri's experience will do wonders for the club and that he can score some very important goals for the club. The fans have shown their delight at the signing of Vieri.

Ritchie De Laet (on loan) I have managed to sign De Laet on a season long loan and it was his versatility along the back four that made him an appealing transfer. We can play left or right back as well as the centre of defensive. I hope De Laet can perform well enough to force his way into the first team plans.

I have also signed striker Freddy Sears on a 3 month loan from Crystal Palace as cover for my front men.

I have attached a screen shot of my transfer activity.

Pre Season Friendly Update

Pre season has gone really well with the club playing 8 games winning 7 and losing to Premiership Birmingham. We also did not concede a goal other than the Birmingham match where we where hit for two. The team has performed really well and their has also been some young guns pushing for a place on the first team. Lee Hodson has been particularly impressive and this lead to a 1.4 million pound bid from Arsenal which was quickly rejected as he is a star in the making. I think I have found a formation which suits the personal in the squad. I hope we can carry this form into the league and hit the ground running.

August Update

The club had a total of 7 fixtures in the month of August with 5 coming in the Championship and the other 2 in the League Cup

Watford 0 Doncaster 1 Heffernan Championship

In a match that we dominated we simply failed to take our chances and Doncaster made us pay in the 53 minute. It was a blow to lose the first home game but the performance up until the final 3rd was a big positive Watfords Best - Jay DeMerit

Wycombe 0 Watford 2 Vieri, De Laet League Cup 1st Round

We rested 6 first team regulars and still won the match comfortably. Wycombe never really threated and we are happy to be in the hat for the next round MOM- Ritchie De Laet

Sheff Utd 1 Watford 2 Evans - DeMerit, Eustace Championship

In a very even free flowing game we are delighted to get the 3 points thank to a 90th minute bullet header from Eustace. It was the perfect response to the Doncaster result MOM - Jay DeMerit

Notts Forest 0 Watford 0 Championship

It was a very entertaining goalless draw with both teams having numerous chances to win the match. In the end it was a good away point to add to the 3 we collected last time out MOM - Ritchie De Laet

Watford 2 Blackpool 1 Lansbury, Cleverley - Adam Championship

We played very good football at times during this game and deserved all 3 points. Lansbury scored what will be a contender for goal of the season with a screamer from 30 yards. It is good to finally get a home win under the belt and we will try and use this as a platform. MOM - Tom Cleverley

Watford 3 Blackburn 0 Vieri, DeMerit, Graham (p) League Cup 2nd

What a result for the club! We totally out played Blackburn and took are chances when they came. Its a great day for the team and the fans and we home we can now go on a good cup run. We where drawn against Bristol Rovers in the 3rd round. MOM - Jay DeMerit

Swansea 0 Watford 1 Graham Championship

Another gusty away performance from the team and another 3 points. We had to withstand pressure at times but we rode our luck and got the break through in the 83 minute. We remain unbeaten away from home MOM - Jure Travner

Player of the Month - Jay DeMerit The big American has been outstanding at the back so far helping the team to 4 clean sheets for far. He is also the clubs joint top scorer with two goals. I hope we can continue this form as the captain has been a real leader on the field so far.

Goal of the Month - Lansbury (Blackpool) - A goal of the season contender already

The Managers View The month started with a poor result against Doncaster put since then we have gone unbeaten even beating Blackburn. We have picked up 11 points with 3 wins and 2 draws so far putting us Fourth in the league which is very pleasing. I hope we can carry our form into the next month.
