Hi everybody, that's my first thread on fm-base. First of all, I want to apologise for my english which is not perfect=)
I've got a question - I manage Boavista Porto in FM 11 (11.3 version) and struggle against teams which uses various versions of tactics with only one striker (4-5-1 with 1 DM, 2 CMs, AML & AMR, ST; 4-2-3-1 with 2 CMs, AMR, AML, AMC, ST, 4-2-3-1 with deep 2 DMs, AML, AMR, AMC, ST). I think that's not only my problem, becouse 4-5-1 system is getting more and more popular all across the Europe.
I don't think that aproaching the same formation as oponents is any solution, becouse then, we can't speak about the tactic, but only about the comparison of skills of oposite players.
I know, that the problem may be coused by lack of quality of my team (I play 4th season, in the first I've been promoted to second league, in the second I've managed to get to the first league, 3rd season - 10th place in Portuguese first league while 15th prognosed) - when I compare my players to other's sides, mine are definitelly weaker. But despite that I'm sure, that there has to be some solution.
4-5-1 tactic has been hard to cope with for me even with such teams as Athletic Bilbao or Udinese Calcio. Do You have any sugestions how to play against that system? I know that 4-4-2 isn't any good against 4-5-1, so I was trying 4-2-1-2-1 (2 DMs, 1 CM, AML, AMR and lone ST), deep 4-2-3-1 and even 3-6-1 (3DCs, 2 DMs, 2 CMs, AMR, AML and ST), but without any spectacular effects. I consider trying something similar to Brasil's Dunga formation (Analysing Brazil’s fluid system at close quarters | Zonal Marking) or 3-5-2 with 3DCs, 1 DM, 2 CMs, ML, MR and 2 STs. So, what do You think?
best regards from Poland

Ok, nevermind=) Thread can be closed - I can see that it wasn't most popular one.
