Shearer named new Owls boss
Former Newcastle manager Alan Shearer has been named the new Sheffield Wednesday boss after Alan Irvine retired because of personal problems.
This is what chairman Howard Wilkinson had to say -
"I am delighted that Alan has decided to join us, we need to push for promotion this season and i believe Alan to be the right man for the job"

The Star - Alan, you sit as the new manager of Sheffield Wednesday how do you feel?

Shearer - Yes, it feels good to get back into football after my short spell with Newcastle

The Star - You will need to add to your squad after Alan Irvine released a few players, are you in talk's with any players?

Shearer - Yes, we are in talk's with quite a lot of player's.

The Star - Can you tell us them please?

Shearer - Not all of them but we are in talks with Marlon Harewood and Egdar David's, Marlon on a permanent deal and Egdar on a 4 week Trial.

The Star - Okay, that is all we have to ask, thank you.

Shearer - Thank you..

This is what Shearer had to say on the transfers - "I am glad that we have got all our targets, we have brought in some great experience in, many people may be asking why i have brought Esajas, Sodje and McAllister back to the club and the reason is that looking at the team from last year they were key to some of their success, i know Sodje was out for most of the season but when he was fit he was a real problem for the other teams defence, erm... We have brought Graham in and i think he will be our new captain and our penalty taker so i don't think we will miss a Pen all season."
