Slaven Bilic appointed as new manager of West Ham United as Big Sam departs.
With Slaven Bilic taking the reigns at Upton Park I have set up a five year plan for West Ham to take them to the next level as they move into the 54,000 capacity Olympic Stadium in Stratford on 1st July 2016.Slaven Bilic appointed as new manager of West Ham United as Big Sam departs.
The ambition here is for West Ham to grow into a club worthy of gracing one of the best modern football stadiums in Europe and compete with the big clubs in the top 4 of the Premier League. This will take a lot of work and vast finances which will hopefully be gained from extra revenue brought in with the sale of Upton Park and big sponsorship deals that you'd expect with a world class stadium. As well as this I will be heavily relying upon youth investment and development to make this a reality.
The 5 Year Plan:
In the first year of the project I'd like to achieve a top 8 finish in the Premier League as well as going on a run in the two domestic cup competitions. This will provide the club with some stability in order to push on into the following seasons.
In terms of signings I don't expect much as the finances simply aren't available to be splashing the cash however there could be some hot prospects brought into the club.
Year Two - 2015/16:
The second season will be an opportunity for the club to step up and look to finish in the top 6 and aim to qualify for the Europa League either through league position or through the cup competitions. However the most important thing is retaining top flight status as the pending move to the Olympic Stadium is a year away at this stage.
I hope to have cleared the dead wood before the beginning of this season and will be looking to involve youth prospects more regularly if they're ready.
Year Three - 2016/17:
This season will be a very exciting one for everyone involved at the club as we move into the new UEFA Category 4 54,000 seater Stadium. At this point I hope to have a solid squad with a mix of youthfulness and experience by strategically procuring young wonderkids and established high profile players.
At this stage I will definitely be looking into improving the clubs facilities to a state of the art level so that they match our ambitions with the new stadium.
In this season I expect West Ham to be in the Europa League and achieve a top 5 finish as well as look to go as far as possible in the FA cup by stretching the squad to its limit.
If in the Europa League, I'd like to at least reach the semi final but would be delighted if we could win the competition and automatically qualify for CL football the following season.
Year Four - 2017/18:
In the fourth season I want an established squad with no players aged 30 or over as I look to build a force of academy products and hot prospect imports from abroad. I expect the club to have some of the best players in the league that are comfortable with competing in the Champions League.
In this season I want to achieve a minimum top 3 finish but optimistically would like to win the PL title and one of the other main competitions (CL or FA Cup).
Year Five - 2018/19:
In the final year of my five year plan I expect a minimum of a title challenge and appearances in the FA Cup and CL final but aim to win the Premier League as well as the Champions League and FA Cup.
Beyond the 5th year I believe we should be aiming to dominate Europe as one of the biggest clubs in the world. Whether I will go past the 5th year will depend on how much I'm enjoying the save but I feel like there's a lot of potential with this club.
