I'm not sure if there's a thread like this already but I was wondering how do you play football manager do you start with a huge team and aim to win everything,do you start with a average team to build them to the top,do you start with a small team and aim to make them great,do you start as a big team in a small league win everything you can and move on etc. I was just wondering how you guys play!

thanks. But also extremely stressful with a lot of late nights lol. I mainly toyed with the regen idea to see what happens. They develop quite well if you start with good training facilities and have good coaches. Wanted to develop homegrown players at the club without buying any, and there are benefits. But also, when I started for first time, it was luck aswell. Should try it some time, like in a seperate save and see what happens

You made a custom team to have regens only?because i wouldnt have the computer know how to do that
I've done it with HJK of Finland, made them the best side in the world. Also won the World Cup with Finland. Now I'm doing the same with RUOR of Belarus, it's 2022 and I once got to the Europa League final but nothing else. It takes time and effort. With HJK it was much easier as the foreign player rules are not that strict in Finland, I used to buy Argentinians and Brazilians and won the CL already in 2016 or something. With RUOR I have a transfer budget of £25m now, but I have no use for the money as I got all my foreigner spots filled and there's not too much Belarusian talent.

I used the game editor to make me team, then deleted the players and coaching staff from the club and just basically wiped the slate clean. Very straight forward
I will try and learn how to keep a career going for a long time before i do something like this i can barely ever get by the first season
I actually got Hleb later on as a scout. I'm winning the league clearly every time, I would have won every one of 33 matches if not for disappointing last 3 matches, 2 draws and a loss. 103 goals scored and 8 conceded. I always seem to finish 3rd in my CL group, and usually I get only to the 2nd KO round in the Europa League.
It's not that difficult if you know the club and know what are the right FM signings then it's not that difficult, but it does take a lot of time. I'm playing currently as Hajduk Split in Croatian 1.HNL and in 6th season(without cheating) won the CL(beaten Real Madrid on penalties after 0-0) and in the semi-finals won against Barca 3-0 on Poljud(our stadium) and I'm trying to get some good youth products from my own academy as well as under-18 regens to get HG players... Currently 7th season and I'll stay there for a season or two more and hopefully win one more time the CL and then I'll go to my hometown club Junak(which got in the 1.HNL in 7th season, managed them in winter to buy new good signings, now they are 9th out of 16 instead of 14th out of 16 and I won't interrupt it's life more) and make them a great club (which will be much more difficult).

I'm from Ireland so it would be quite difficult to do it with a Team from my country. Your lucky that you bet Real Madrid the best team in the world

First, I had Dzimtry, unfortunately I had to sell him cause of financial problems in my 4th season(solved in 5th).
Well, maybe it would take more time, but if you try and play with your club for a few times one season and buy some same some different players every time you'll find out what suits you and then you'll speedily have a great club.

And I've beaten them in 6th season with some great players and regens(Yaya Sanogo was my best striker until this season, I somehow bought him in the January transfer window 1st season and I have never been unsatisfied with him)

How i do it is...make a lower league with good facilities and make them into a world class team 
like for example..i made Wycombe Wanderers from League 2 to EPL and is now a World class club matching Man utd and arsenal and all that
I like that feeling when you turn a **** team into a super team beating these favourites Man Utd...Barcelona...Real Madrid..
