What happened to my player?

I bought Antonio Cassano to strengthen my Man Utd squad but this has happened since he joined (see screen shot). Any ideas why? Its not like he is in his 30's or anything and past his peak in fact from what I've found with other players supposedly at their peak I thought he might even have improved.

This is quite common even if your training staff and regime are very good. I'm sure they will go back up eventually. It's just a very annoying part of the game.
