What has happened to my team ?

Hello, i'm currently in the 2013 - 2014 season with Aston Villa and i have been making great progress.

1st Season - 8th in the Prem
2nd Season - 5th in the Prem / League Cup Winner
3rd Season - 4th in the Prem / League Cup Winner again / FA Cup Final

Now i've just started my 4th season and i had my Assistant do a team report and all of a sudden all of my players have lost stars on their Current and Potential. Most importantly players like Ashley Young, Lewis Holtby, Stephen Ireland, Chris Samba and Charlie Adam have all dropped by half a star. Phil jones also lost a whole star of Potential ability from 4 to 3 stars. I'm really confused as the team have been doing ever so well yet something is wrong here. Could anyone shed some light on what is happening ?

I signed Y M'vila and Alexis Sanchez in the Transfer Market and these players and Akinfeev are 4 stars.

The star ratings are relative to other players on the team. If you sign a player that is exceptional compared to you other players that player will have 5 stars and everyone else will go down.

Ah so the players stars are reflective of other players aswell, so because i have put two 4 star players in my squad the others are lessened to show their ability more accurately ? is there anyway that i could have it show as a number or something else as its rather misleading for me.

Yes so if you were say Ac milan for example Ibrahimovich would be say 4 stars. But if you then signed someone like Messi he would drop as he isnt as good in your coaches report compared to say Messi

Also as your team gets better or worse then the stars decrease or increase depending how good they would be suited to playing in that tournament, e.g. when you finished 8th Ashley Young might have been 4* but now your in Europe he's 3* because there are better people in that competition.
