Dear FM forum,

I'm playing with Ajax. I'm in my second season and some good players have wanted to leave to bigger clubs. My question is:

what factors decide how big a club is?

How important is the level of the competition, club co-efficients etc.? Can this change when you get good results over a couple of seasons?

Looking forward to your answers!

Players want to leave for many different reasons. Fall out with manager, wants a new contract, wants champions league football, unhappy with player being sold etc. Regarding wanting to move to a bigger club this is all determined by reputation. This can be improved by winning major competitions and can improve dramatically. The league you play in can hamper your rep however, and the dutch league isn't the best. Unless there are lots of big money signings and several teams competing in europe your league rep is unlikely to improve so you'll have to rely on your own club winning the big trophies.

Try and win these big trophies and give your better players big contracts to stop them wanting to leave. Big signings can also help :)
