Apparently no ones interested in reading the posts in the sticky thread, hopefully this will attract attention.

Right, it is the second season and this tactic thing is really a pain for me.

Before buying Kaka, Bojan, Arfa...

For my first season I had Normal Real Madrid Team but with Buononette, Balotelli (to support my wingers/ amazing signings I must admit)

I used the tactic shown in the image.

GK as normal as with the defenders and full backs and defensive midfield.

Midfielders act like attacking midfield, wingers as normal but crossing to rarely so that they show their class beat their markers get close on goal, shoot/pass. (Very effective, scored a few goals with my wingers just beating everyone and going for goal from the sides.)

Striker as normal.

With this tactic I had a streak of 40+ games WITHOUT LOSING, but the problem was I got a few draws. My team had lack of finishing even with the class of players I had at that time. This cost me the League Cup and the ECC. Came runners-up in both >.< just because my players couldn't score. 10/10 for defence but **** attack.

Second season got Kaka (85m but boosted my profits from 50m to 180m), Renan (cheap came in Season 1 break), Zapata (cheap in season 1 break), Ben Arfa (19m seems like a talent) and Bojan (barca let him go :O so snatched him! FREE !)

Got rid of the old timers, Raul, Guti, Dudek, Codina.

Now I believe the team I have now is well talented and can destroy the opposition, but I need tactics that can utilise my weapons properly.

Please help me out, looking forward to hearing from you lot soon :D

in fact, ur team its too good, so real madrid-ish

anyway, u should take a **** on van der vaart, leave gago with defensive dutys and kaka more offensive-style midfielder. then, put balotelli playing next to ruud, u should try a 4-4-2 using and abusing of the wingers. something like:

hope it helps

Thanks for your reply.

I consider myself being lucky, because when I started the first season I had 40m for transfers so couldn't do much, signed the players I mentioned, they asked for ridicolous wages so had to pay cause scout reported them being stars of future. Played around with the Transfer and Wage budget to make my wages less than wage limit. As the season progressed the board increased the transfer budget slowly, end of the season poof! 150-170m transfer and 2-3m wages. Went for kaka as soon as I saw this, AC milan wanted 80 something million, took him and later in my inbox Bojan fails to impress, LOL! Took him for free, put him in under 19 and he's kicking *** there.

Anyways, back to tactics. I haven't used this tactic you have mentioned, I will give it a go. Reading few threads here and there I realised Target Men and Playmakers really effect the game.

Should I use them for this tactic? Cause if Ruud is the target man, and you set him to delivery Mixed to him he is really effective.

Also you mentioned using the wingers as much as possible, I have been doing that previously but with a twist. A lot of people say their crossing should be amazing, but I think not only their crossing but ability to embarass a defender should be one of thier specials. As mentioned, should I use the wingers like I have been using them before. I.e. Crossing to Rarely, their decision to cross/shoot comes when they near the goal. With weak teams it is very effective, against tough teams not that much but considering the talent in my team I think they can fool the top defenders as well. But would really like your opinion.

And considering my seasons goal intake less than 10 wouldn't this tactic provide a lil too much gap between the midfield and defence? And end up in a goal? Or my defenders are capable of sidelining the threat ?

Thanks.

pepe and cannavaro should do the job, also with casillas closing the gates, u shall not fear them strikers eheh

hum, i think u should have a winger set to run upfront cross the ball to target man (eg. walcott in my arsenal) and the other one for dribbling in the middle and place shots, like guardado in my team. Its really up to you. Also, i would recommend the lee's liverpool tactic, it owns also, a bit different but it owns. I personally dont use any target man or playmaker, even tho i have adebayor and fabregas for the jobs, i think the team works better as a whole than by directing their passes to some special player, at leats thats my understanding of target man and playmaker.

glad to help

Hmm, interesting ... appreciate all your help :)

Personally I haven't used playmaker much but Target Man is a definit for me. I only use him in second half of a match (if I am leading) or in away matches. In away matches I take a little defensive approach but still have my paddle on the attack, home side having the advantage I choose to play with Target man.

Helps an aweful lot, e.g. in most away matches it is hard to keep possession therefore the entire team is pushed back to defend. But the target striker is up ahead looking for a chance. A defender would get the ball, and rather than just clear the ball he would make an over head pass to the striker up front who would either run for the ball (if ball passes over him) or he would recieve the ball and make the run for it towards the goal either managing a goal or getting brought down in penalty area or just outside. Ruud is very effective I must say, but if you have a fast and well finishing striker something like that is a certain goal.

I will check out Lee's Tactics but I like your idea of different jobs for either wingers, I'm thinking Robben on the right who's really good at dodging defenders and either buononette or sneider on the left they seem to have good crossing abilities.

Thank man, really appeciate it. Solved a lot of questions :)

Take care.
