I'm just coming into January in my first season with United and I'm not quite sure where to start in terms of transfers and contracts.

To be honest, they have a quality squad already. I was thinking of letting Berbatov, Diouf, Owen, Kuszczak and Gibson go at the end of the year on a free.

I play the 4-4-2 and perhaps they are lacking in the central midfield area. I've of course got Fletcher and Carrick for the more defensive central midfield role, but I don't know who else to add for the other role. Giggs is always injured, Cleverley is still young and Anderson isn't up to much.

I'll probably need another striker if I let three of them go too.

Any recommendations?

Sell:

Lindergaard (high wages) Kuszczak, Berbatov (if you dont like him) Gibson, Diouf (you can swap him for really good players)

Buy:

Andre Ayew (£11.25m) Mbaye Niang, Dario Srna and Marc Andre Ter Stegen/Bernd Leno or Steve Mandanda

I agree with Raikan about Kuszczak, Berbabov, Gibson and Diouf.

Lindegaard is a good second 'keeper, though.

And as for the midfield, Fletch is a BWM, so consider buying David Alaba (AP). He has been superb for me in my current game.

For strikers, it depends what you want. If you want class right now, there are many options, just scan the market. Maybe buy in Cavani? For youth prospects, you can't look much further than your own team, but also consider Yaya Sanogo.

You can sell Berbatov fo 15 Mio. €, Lindegaard for 5 Mio. €, Kuszczak for 2 Mio. €, Diouf for 8 Mio. €, don't let them go for free mate...

In my ManUtd save, I bought Mario Gotze and Neymar, and now, starting the 5th season, the 2nd with ManUtd, they are the 2 best players in the game

I let go off Berbatov (free as he wouldnt sign a new deal), Fletcher (17m to Chelsea), Carrick (around 6m to Fulham) and then the likes of Diouf, Gibson, King etc for minimal fees or frees. I've kept Lindegaard as he seems to be a good back up keeper.

I signed Niang in my January of my first season and was an immediate success after having to play due to injuries elsewhere. Also signed Dzagoev for big money but sold him in the 3rd season. Another signing I made in my 2nd season was Sandro and he has been a resounding success. So far

Season 1 - PL and carling cup winners
Season 2 - PL Winners
Season 3 - treble of fa cup, pl and cl.

Play the 424 formation and Anderson in mind bogglingly good. Play him as an Advanced playmaker with duty of attack and he makes fantastic runs all game. And off course Nani is deadly.

Only advice is dont buy Pedro, hes very very poor

Sign Berbz at the start of the season as it's hard to sell anybody for a good price at the start of the game. Sell him at the end of the season for about 15 mil pounds.

Personally this is what I do:

I play Welbeck in the cup games to give Hernadez rest, and then I sell Welbeck for a tasty 15 mil pounds + 25% next transfer at the end of the season. See I don't need Welbeck because I always buy Niang for about 6 mil pounds.

I also try and get the board or myself to sign Ganso as IMO he's the best young AMC/MC in the game- he's about 30 mil pounds.

Also I sell Pogba and Ravel for about 10 mil pounds combined total- usually Chelsea and R. Madrid snap them out.

I also sell Gibson and Carrick. Don't need either as you have Fletcher and Anderson who are both quality work-horse midfielders.

In my most recent save I also sold Rio Ferdinand, mainly because I'm not about to offer a 33 year old a 110k/ week contract. Sold him off to Tottenham for about 15 mil pounds I believe. Didn't miss him because Smalling and Jones are both superb DC.

I also try and loan off Cleverly for the season. And then sell him off for hopefully 10 mil + pounds at the end of the season.

DO NOT sell Cleverley, he will be quality. I rejected a 20million offer from Chelsea...:) Playing well on left wing, right wing and as an attacking midfielder! :)

Anderson outperforms his stats and does improve somewhat in the first two seasons in my experience. Fletcher - BWM and Anderson - AP (support) is ****** effective imo.

Of course you can get better than Anderson, but unless you purchased someone like Jenssen at the start of the game (he's available for £1mil!!) you might struggle to get good value for money out of anyone else.

Anderson is quality too, for CM position! And yes, he works very well with Fletch, worked well for me, too! ;)

Thanks guys. Yeah, to be honest Cleverley has played nearly every game for me in my first season so far. I've had mad injury problems, Anderson is now out again, Giggs has been out for four months with a knee problem and Carrick pulled a muscle.

Yeah i sorta struggled to find ways of improving that squad. Beyond selling some of the overpayed deadwood and finding decent backup players, the team is very solid from the start. I think i only gotten Varane to replace Rio then relied mostly on regens.

The problem with Cleverly is that he's well rounded but he doesn't excel in any areas, so it's very hard for me to put him in any specific position.

This is true. I still find he performs well as a backup of sorts when used as an advanced playmaker (support) or inside forward (support), but his creativity, decisions and flair do prevent him from being really good in either role.

well if u need another midfield esp attacking mid try gylfi sigurdsson..i got him for about 8 mil with cheap wages too...only about 20k haha
i'm using man utd too
