Im afraid its down to the money in football and this surpasses fair play in most cases.
Players dive aswell and cheat if they feel they will get away with it

The point is that they knew that the player doesn't intend to take a free kick, all of us knows that he want to pass a ball to his Gk and then he will take free kick...
And then, his choice is.. fair play or not..

Whether he meant it or not, it's what he did. He paid the price for not concentrating hard enough, so I have no sympathy.

Why is he touching the ball then, if he knew the rules of football then he would of just left it there for the keeper to come and get instead of passing it back a few yards which was pointless. I would hope that any player given that opportunity would pounce on it without thinking.

Also seems pretty rich coming from someone who has Ronaldo as their avator because he is the ambassador of fair play isnt he lol.

it was a fair as turner kicked the ball, meaning the freekick was taken

Also seems pretty logic post from Liverpool fan.

Yeah well he isnt going to sit there and let you blame Liverpool for the goal when they did nothing wrong, the ref should have blown the whistle he didnt, the Liverpool players did what any players would and score a goal. Now honestly tell me Ronaldo and Madrid wouldnt do the same?

Oh gawd, let's not turn this into a Ronaldo-bashing thread please. We've made our point.

It was the right decision by Stuart Attwell to allow the goal by the letter of the law, so there's no fault with it whatsoever. End of.

There are instances where "Fair Play" Should be used. But there are two quite obvious reasons the goal stood.

Firstly, "Fair Play" isn't a rule. It's not enforceable. Yes, being a good sport makes you slightly less of a **** but honestly, how Fair are we supposed to get? Not allowing goals because the keeper wasn't ready?

Secondly, He kicked the ball! Turner doesn't get paid the kind of money he does to jerk around like that. In the middle of Premier League game no less. Kuyt, saw his mistake and capitalised. Isn't that the purpose of Football tactics? Forcing mistakes that you can take advantage of? Is that not what he is supposed to do? I mean, c'mon! This is competitive football for crying out loud. This isn't a case of lack of "Fair Play" this is a lack of professionalism.
