Just want to make it clear, I understand the concept of a "bad run", a few injuries, morale drops and there's a blip in both individual and team performance.

However, what I don't understand is how, when such a blip occurs that it's near impossible to get out of it. After 19 games as Catania in Serie A I was top of the league with the best defensive record and my goal difference was very good. Had a few injuries, to which these players returned from, yet here I am 12 games on without a win. Have you ever seen, in real life, one of the best teams in the league suffer such a magnificent drop in form? It simply does not happen. My defenders are up there with some of the best in the league, likewise for my midfielders, admittedly my strikers are average (yet with good potential) and here I am with 5 points from the last 12 games, including home ties with teams in just as bad form with lower morale. No matter what happens I will forfeit a winning position or just slump to defeat from the off.

I know there are many accounts of people posting their frustrations, however I just wanted to question the true realism of such instances. Attempted to tweek tactics and how I approach a game if I am ever in a winning position but simply to no avail. If my squad was poor for the league I would be more understanding but as one of the best squads I am left tearing my hair out.

Do you give them the hairdryer treatment when ever they aren't performing to your standards? If so, try reassuring your players that you have faith in their abilities. Or just mix up your team talk in general.

I have done a bit of a mix. I started talking to the players and reassuring them I had faith in cutting out their mistakes etc. Team meetings were unsuccessful but I have just done one before my last fixture, 31 players responded well and I won 3-0 away from home against a mid-table side. Morale has improved but whether results will continue I am unsure (only 5 games left anyway) It truly is a complete mix though. For the majority of team talks I would get a positive reaction, yet no positive results. One thing I don't understand is when in a 1-0 position with the other team having equal chances, I ask players to guard against complacency and they react in a confused manner.

The game reminds me of those flash games you see where unless you do everything in the correct order, you can't win. It may just be that the coding makes it easier to drop morale and form than to gain it, and that's fixable. It really all depends on SI doing the fix correctly. FM13 team form was based too heavily on morale and that wasn't ever really remedied, so I can't say I'm too hopeful.

Yeap, happens all the time. The first example I though of was Arsenal in the 2010/11 season, from the League Cup Final onwards (2010–11 Arsenal F.C. season - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). And that only shows the league results, it doesn't mention the loss in the league cup final, the 4-1 defeat to Barcelona or going out in the FA Cup 1-0 to United.

The irony of somebody complaining that "realism" has ruined their game in which they were top of the league with Catania. Come on, dude.
