I'm in my 4th season with Swansea and was really hoping to kick on however I'm having an absolute mare at the minute.

I'm reluctant to change my style and tactic as the stats have been heavily in my favour and have been working toward this for a few seasons.

What should I be looking to change to put an end to this run without overhauling my tactics:

I have recently tweaked my CB's, they used to be both ball playing (defend) and I've changed my fullbacks who used to CWB (attack). I also changed from high line to much higher and I added the offside trap.

Thanks,
Jason

Up and down due to results.

I'll smash a team in the Europa then get beat at home in the Prem.

This is me all over - 3rd season as Hull.
Difference is, I've completely changed my tactics and I'm still dominating each game but failing to win. The way I qualified for the EL Group Stage is embarrassing.

(I finished 17th in my 2nd season but won the Capital One Cup, before anyone thinks I finished 5th as Hull oO))

I love doing stuff like this, let me just get done with this skype call and ill take a look.
Would you mind posting the "average positions" and "passes", from one of the matches analysis?

Allright lest go.
Now bare in mind that im not very familier with the players, but its 2016 with swansea so im guessing not THAT much have changed.

1. You are playing a very possession based pressing game with Swansea, now im pretty sure you havent brought in that many new players, are you sure that is a very good idea? I mean, swansea aint a top PL side.
2.How long have your players been playing together, especially the defensive line, since you are running offside trap, it requires good team cohersion.
3.THe stopper/Cover combo is a good way to go with a high pressing tactic, however, if you fail to retain the possession and control the match, and you let a good attacking opposition get into your final half, it can really open up holes in your defence, especially if you are facing 2 strikers, and it may allso screw up your offside trap.
4. Having BPD is only good if they actually are good and composed passers, if not you are just giving away chances.
5. Your formation has one deep defensive midfielder, and 2 creative ones, however you are pushing high up the field and hassling the opponent even tho the only midfielder actually doing defensive work is the DM, having a CM on support instead of the DPL might be a good idea.
6. You play a short passing slow tempo game, yet your formation has very few attacking outlets, this will result in loosing the ball allot.
7. Your shouts/fluidity/mentality are all set to very aggressive and very reliant on dominating the match, swansea aint a team that in 2016 can dominate premier league, its like taking a championship side and telling them to play like barcelona, just because you have the tactics down doesnt mean they can actually pull it off.

You seem to control most matches, but score on few chances, I would put that on the few players going forwards, and the big gaps between them. You allso get scored on allot, which i would blame on the defensive issues ive pointed out.

I've actually managed to turn it around, quite remarkably.

What I changed:
View attachment 457172

V.Fluid to Fluid
Att to Counter
Dropped 'Roam from positions' and added 'pass into space'
Changed to CWB
One BPD and one CD

I've also hammered 'attack positioning' in training.

aRne2k Thanks for your feedback! My team is completely different to the current Swansea side, only players that are left are Ben Davies and Neil Taylor. All the players I've purchased have been with possession football in mind.

That's an interesting point about having one DM, I'm going to try 2.
