Hey guys!

Wanted to hear about some of your most interesting FM careers! Let's hear about your most entertaining and thrilling FM challenges and scenarios.

Myself, I'm hoping to get some inspiration - I've always been a little fascinated by the guys who's able to... for instance take a welsh team to the CL final or complete the San Marino challenge. I usually play out 3-4 or maybe 5 seasons on a save and then lose interest. I think my latest journeyman save has kept me the longest to the fire, ever. (I'm at 2023) - but now craving a new challenge. And I imagine having a long-term goal set will help you keep interest - maybe even sharing your story online?

We all know the San Marino, Pentagon, Dafuge-variation challenges and so - do tell, but don't hold back on the more obsure ones! ;)

And maybe even share some of your ideas to new challenges and scenarios!

Let's get an inspirational thread going! :)

Here's some variations of the scenarios/challenges I've enjoyed or thought about.

Unexplored territory - Write yourself and your club into the history books by becoming the first team in your nation to compete in the Champions League group stage.

Possible nations: Surprisingly few... Iceland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Albania, Bosnia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Moldova, Gibraltar, Andorra, Luxembourg and of course The Faroe Islands (According to my research :) )

Possible twists/variations/rules:
  1. Start unemployed.
  2. Start as a former national-team hero (Gudjohnson, Damien Duff and so on)
  3. ... Or maybe just take a club from a small league to the point of Champions League attendance being the new normal!

The Glorious Five (The National Hero) - Take any league outside the 5 top leagues (Spain, England, Germany, Italy, France) into the top 5. Your goal is to single-handedly develop your chosen league into one of the 5 best leagues and become a nationwide legend in the process.

Suggested nations: Poland, Czech Republic, Holland, any scandinavian league (obviously different difficulties on this one)

Possible twists/variations/rules:
  1. A simpler version would be to do 'a Van Gaal/Mourinho' with the goal to win the champions league with a team outside the top 5. Like LVG did with Ajax and Mou did with Porto.
  2. Decide whether or not you can switch clubs inside the league.

The Youth Coach - You've appointed boss at your childhood club. You were a big talent but injuries made an early end to an otherwise promising career. Since then you've furiously studied Sports Management, played Football Manager, trained and managed youth teams so you'd once be able to win the titles with the club that you were not able to as a player.

Possible twists/variations/rules:
  1. Your rise through the managerial positions in the youth ranks has made you loyal to the youngsters. You must have X number of homegrown players in your squad and focus immensely on developing the young ones.
  2. Start unemployed with your 'target club' as your favorite club and make your way 'back' to that team.

Fish Out Of The Water - Become the first man from your nation to take over a club in one of the major leagues. Start in your home nation and make your way to Spain, England, Germany or Italy. Become the focus of a whole nation - like Laudrup was at Swansea or Bilic is at West Ham.

Interesting nations: China, Japan, India, Australia, Finland, Poland and so on - maybe countries like USA and Mexico if you forget about Bob Bradley and Javier Aguirre :D

Possible twists/variations/rules:
  1. An extra end-goal could be to end off the career being national team coach for your nation. If you've been long enough at a big club you might even have generated players for your national team.
