I'm in year 2026 I've been incredibly successful so far as a club and international manager, turning Sunderland (yes Sunderland) into European giants winning:
2 Premier League titles (4 3rd place finishes,)
2 Champions Leagues (1 runner up,)
1 Europa League (3 runners up,)
2 FIFA Club World Cups,
2 European Super Cups,
2 FA Cups (1 runner up,)
5 Capital One Cups.

I was was soon offered the Turkey job (in 2017) and won the 2022 FIFA World Cup. I resigned from my Turkey post in 2024 because I fancied a new challenge and now I haven't had an international job in over 2 years...

I'm one of only 4 "World Class" managers in the world, so why the F can I not get a new international job?

Have you been turned down for any? If not, wait until the world cup finishes, a load of managers will be sacked and you can basically have your pick. If you have been turned down for some, consider if your nations are rivals, or your familiarity with said nation. It'd make no sense for the likes of Italy to pick you over Antonio Conte for the international job, even if you are a more qualified manager, because he knows Italy and Italian players better than you do.

It's funny you should say that actually because Conte is the current Italy manager in my save (Prandelli was still manager in real life when I started it) and it's also funny you should mention the World Cup because it's literally just finished and from what I could see only 1 team, Brazil, sacked their manager, I would have loved the Brazil job but Maxwell got it. I don't know whether you only get one shot at international management or whether I've just been unlucky, I'm not sure but I really want a new job!

Also international vacancies don't actually appear in the job centre and I can't figure out how to apply for them, Turkey just offered me the job without an application.

This is the only option I have on international teams with no manager...

Why can't I just apply?

Strange isn't it? I am a German manager in my Leverkusen save. Germany's manager got sacked so I went and applied for the job and they come back saying I'm not good enough. I have won a CL, a DFB pokal, two bundesliga titles and few supercups but I'm "not good enough" and they go and appoint Sascha Lewandowski who barely has any managing experience. :/

Happening with me too. Was german manager with Schalke and won everything and then also they considered Jens Keller better than me and World Cup managers arent getting sacked often. Russia had a vacant job but still i counldnt apply to it and Rijkard got the job

very weird..

is it not in job security/centre?

there should be jobs available after the world cup/euros/copa
No there's nothing in the job centre advertising international jobs, I find this very strange! But like I said I didn't even apply for my Turkey post they just offered me the job...

I was in charge of man utd, won title in first year, champions league in second, got the uruguay job, won the copa america thing, resigned then got offered the england job haha :P won the confederations cup now onto the world cup :P

Yes, I've encountered something similar. I had won 3 BPL titles in a row with Liverpool, also won CL and FA cup. When I applied for the England job after it became vacant, I was told the FA laughed at my application.

I think it has something to do with the reputation you start with. I always choose "automatic". In any case, it seems like it doesn't take recent success into consideration at times. I don't know if it's poorly coded or what, but I'm hoping it's one of the things they will fix in FM15.

probably cause you were liverpool manager.

Nah in all seriousness; what reputation are you now? I think if you start with international it's easier to get a job like you said down to reputation at the start, obviously you have to establish yourself more even if you do get to World Class, but even then it's weird that a World Class manager, one of very few world class managers interested in a role can't get it

You mean because I was a successful Liverpool manager, as opposed to Hodgson? :)

I'm World Class now and have been so a few years, but haven't tried applying for a international job for a while. But yeah, it doesn't make much sense that they would laugh at a manager dominating the league.

haha god knows how hodgson is still in the job, probably cause there's no one good enough at the moment to take the **** job.

Anyway yeah it's odd, it happens for me with clubs too sometimes I remember I got laughed at by AC Milan when I was Valencia manager & I was odds on favourite according to the media, I thought why not try and restore AC's greatness & ship out all the old guys, I applied & declared interest, they laughed.

90 percent of the time when I start new Swansea saves Belgium approach me after the world cup almost every save... I didn't even have to apply either. (I use welsh nationality)

fyi; Germany will never hire a player manager because of licensing rights.
