I tried editing this past week for the first time, just on the basic game editor. The League of Ireland IRL is currently a two tier system, so what I wanted to do was to expand it - make it into the pyramid system I have always dreamt of. In doing this, I did make one or two alterations to some of the clubs, generally to reflect what is happening in the real world: for example, Limerick now have a sugar daddy. The big problem is, I am not a Limerick fan, and to be honest, I would probably turn them down if offered the job. If anything, this is going to make it harder for whatever team I am managing - be it Duncannon, the small 5th tier club from a town of less than 1000 I am currently with, or, if requested by them, my home team of Waterford United.
Obviously, even with extensive testing of various elements of the editing, I am finding small errors (and the odd glaring one) here and there. However, I would say that the week of editing has been as enjoyable an experience as playing (and moreso than my first spell as Waterford manager on an earlier save). So, perhaps you could call it cheating to have made it possible for Duncannon to get a place where they could gain promoition from the bottom to the top. However, if one looks at things in the League of Ireland now, should they have someone invest lorryloads of cash in them, and they get a friendly ear in the right place, they could be invited in next year from almost scratch, much as Sporting Fingal and Wexford Youths were in real life in 2007.
