Hi all

i have just taken over west ham after a few seasons in the lower leagues with bury but i am haveing some problems with my new teams passing dispite the fact that all the players have good passing skilling along with pretty much everything else nearly all the team say they have no real weaknesses in the coach reports so my problem is why is my teams passing so bad also they don't seam to play as fast as my old team dispite haveing the same tempo

i play 4-4-2 with the left and right midfeild pushed forward to AM posisions i try to play mixed or direct passing if i go short my coach says that the forwards are used to playing a more direct game. i play in the champship with is where i finshed with bury i just don't understand how a team full of prem quality players is so bad at passing

thanks for your help in advance

For good passing you need to play short passing with a low tempo, your coach may say your players are used to playing more direct but in time the players will adapt and get used to you system. If you were then to change to direct you coach would say they are more used to playing a short passing game.So just let the players get to your style of play.

Ok thanks could you give me some idea how long it would take the players to get used to a short passing game and how much they would lose in performance while this process is takeing place?

Depends on a few things really, the coaches, the players.depends on how direct he's used to playing and how short you want him to play.If he is used to playing total long ball and you want him to play as short as you can get its going to take a while.

ok i'll give that a go then thx for the help i am sure i will be looking for some more help with my tatics over the next few days should i post new questions on this thead?

The passing length works apparently as a radar range setting for the player: the bigger it is, the further he will look for mates to pass to, if they have nobody within, then they'll hoof it rather than make an actual pass.

So the passing shall be set according to player abilty and formation (and formation in turn should be tweaked so it allows to work the pass ranges the players can work with):

- If a player has poor passing, he won't do well with long passes, so he would require shorter pass ranges.

- If the pitch and formation is so that the players will be separated, then the passing ranges will need to be longer, or the players won't have mates in their radars.

So in conclusion: poor passers need packed formations, at least around them, good passers can work in more spread formations.

Also you have to see how is the rival's defense, maybe you have to instruct some players to wait the ball more to the back or something like that, making them less offensive, or giving free role if they're in an attacking role.

ok i have another question can someone please list the coach attibutes that the different training areas are linked so i can hire ppl who can train to a better standard i guess some of them str and arobics are prob linked to fitness but what about ball control set pices and shooting

thx in advance

ps yes sry about the typo in the title i tryed to change it afterwards but it wouldn't let me

Strength and aerobics-FITNESS
Ball Control,Set Pieces and shooting-ALL TECHNIQUE
The rest are self explanatory.

ok thx so i need a few good coachs with Tecnique then

ok guys i have another question for you knowlageable types this time about feeder clubs

ok so i am now about 5-6 years in started in lower leages did well and then took over west ham after the previous manager somehow managed to get them relegated(some feat i might add given the quality of the players they had) well i decided not to sell anyone and dispite all the players been unhappy cry babys we managed to go on a 25+ odd game winning steak that got us the championship with about 10 games still to go. took me about 2-3 years but i have now managed to win the premer league and now look like doing it again and fingers crossed if i get past real madrid the champions league.

well here is my question i asked the board for a new feeder club as i only have one atm gillingham i think. but they have now asked me what type and to give them a name of a club i had hoped they would just give me a list and i could go that one please can someone give me a rundown of what the different types do and how to get the most out of them.

thanks all in advance

national loan/first option is a lower league club in england that you can send players too. you also get first option on buying their players.

international loan/first optionn is the same but in a foreign league, sometimes u may get a slightly bigger club this way. you can send players who failed to get a work permit on loan to these clubs to gain eu citizenship. this usually takes 3 years.

commercial link is usually in asia or america, u usually have to play a friendly but as the fans of that nation are hungry for premiership football they will buy your merchandise and make u money.

they are the main options. the others arent that great really.

ok so i guess i want to look at a internation loan/first option deal or mabe a comercial link got any ideas for clubs i could add would like a spanish club as my manager is half spanish.

thx

theyve asked you to choose the club??!?!?! ive never got to do that before. i get to choose wat type, so i select international loan/first option then a week later im given a list of options.

a small spanish club would be good, so if you sent them some youngsters they would stand a chance of getting in the team. salamanca, numancia, recreativo huelva, gijon, tenefire, malaga, mallorca, xerez, valladolid etc. some of them should be in the top div.

if you chose commercial link though you could get a big japanese team like osaka or grampus. or a us team like la galaxy or new york red bulls etc

cool thx at least i got some names to work with i am kinda lost outside the english scotish and welsh leages

yeah i get to choose the club but i personly think they should have give me a option to leave the club to the board not really my area of expertise

thx
