Why is my possession so poor

I've got one of the best teams in the league on paper and I've tried so many different formations and tactics but I'm still having such low possession even at home and I'm talking as low as 23% against bottom of the league teams and this isn't just a one off thing it's regular, surely this is a bug?

It would be a bug but for one small thing, everyone else is hammering the possession stats. Play an attacking 451 formation similar to barca, fluid, short passing, retain possession, very high defensive line etc.

my problem in my posSesion tactics is the chances it created, so few.
